2142 seems like a very good game, I think the squad play is awesome, all the rank-ups, unlocks and gadgets are cool. My guess is that it's not a good game competition wise? What do you think.

It fed in to much to the IO/statsrlife crowd from BF2. It surely had some awesome potential. I still enjoy the game.
Seemed to me like it was fun only for short periods of time, it always had me coming back.
Its because a lot of BF2 players don't like change, there is a post sticked here explaining why.
I liked bf2142. Only problem I had with it was because it came out a year after bf2 and that forced me to decide between one of the 2 I should commit to playing.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
in short, because it wasn't bf2.
imo people put a lot of time and effort into their stats and did not want them diminished by another game, despite all the stats r srs bsns speak.

I didn't like the maps that much.
The maps were/are awesome! And so was my Clark! *sniff* I miss those wonderful days.

I used to play a lot of competition in BF2, CAL, TWL, etc. and when i played on public servers I really cared about getting the medals, ribbons, badges, and i cared about my k/d also. 2142 was like heaven for me

I play both BF2 and BF2142. Never was a problem for me.
It was released too soon after bf2.
