if someone had said, months ago, that tf2 in the future would have tons of pin-on hats and medals, and the community was to be so broken and fucked-up that valve had to start rewarding players just for not cheating... i wonder what we would have said? disbelief isn't the word. catastrophically shit design decisions, imo.

It would be nice if Valve got round to actually trying out some form of that variable weapon system thing they were planning instead of spending so much time on cosmetic changes.

No I wasn't kicked. I told him i'd read about it happening en masse. People being banned from servers for not having a halo. People being banned from servers for having a halo. People refusing to help or heal others because of their 'status'.
However yes, i was on the PC Gamer server and it had been renamed to that. And I think I possibly would have been kicked if their server was working properly. As it happens it wasn't, and nobody could see any halos at all, The admins were trying to fix it while I was on, and restarted the server during a map change to no avail.
I don't care about the idler being shut down, the items being deleted or anything. What I do care about is how that halo seems to be destroying the community over nothing. I want Valve to get rid of it. Give everyone that didn't idle a free random hat. Don't give them a status symbol because that just causes elitism and discrimination.
It may sound melodramatic, but its already happening.
