Hey fellahs.

I'm getting back into cartooning. Anyone who remembers the cartoons I drew will remember how eye-wateringly awful they are but hey, it's all in good fun and I'm improving somewhat. Anyway my tablet which I use for inking, (as I still sketch in pencil but find inking usin pen looks messy,) is awful. Just really really bad, you have no idea. Anyway I was looking at advice into buying graphics tablets or even tablet PCs, (if I can justify the expense.) I figured there'd be a few here who'd know what's what in regards to which graphics tablets are good.

Wacom's the industry standard by far,

I think you can get a 4x6"Bamboo for $80, and a Bamboo Fun(more buttons and eraser) for about $120.

Oh yep, I've seen those ones around. I like them because the pen's not battery dependant as my one is, (pen stops moving/moves erraticly when battery is less than full.) I'll look into getting one, I think they're about $150 NZD.

Just know that they take some getting used to (looking up while you draw). .. that is unless you want to dive into the Cintiq model .

I definitely recommend trying them out first.

I can recommend the Bamboo, nice and responsive, quite accurate at pressure sensing too and not expensive at all.

I would love a Cintiq. Can't really justify it to myself though. Never mind, here's hoping my sister won the $35 million "Big Wednesday" draw last night, (she said she'd give me $2 million.)

I'm fairly used to using tablets thanks to the HORRIBLE SOUL-SUCKING PIECE OF CHEAP CRAP that I have at the moment. I'll see if I can find a Wacom Bamboo tablet, I think I saw them at a place in town and I'm going there later to check out a new flat.

Drawing directly onto the screen as opposed to drawing on a tablet and it being transferred onto a verticle screen. It kind of just saves your brain having to adjust. Expensive though.

Had a look, (Bamboo.) They're $159 NZD. Fucking weak currency. I'll see if I can find a deal somewhere.

Or maybe not discontinued...but everywhere I've seen, the place where graphires used to be has been replaced by Bamboo's. They're cheaper, look a bit nicer(but not customizable) and have more buttons.

Got myself a Wacom Bamboo today. The pen is not bettery dependant which alone makes it worth every cent.
