my xbox 360 is not working properly, it freezes whenever i try to play a game, and sometimes shows the 3 red lights or death, but then will start working again minutes later. also if i take the hard drive out it has no problems at all.

i have also cleared the cache of the system, but no joy, it seems to want to freeze whenever i put the hard drive back.

is it just the heat, or is time to send it off to microsoft to be fixed???

it's about to get 3 red rings for good.   send it to microsoft if you want, but fixing it yourself will be faster and a good experience.

edit: and it will be permanent.  the MS replacements often red ring too.  my fixed 360 still hasn't red ringed.

If its still under warranty just send it in, what do you have to lose?

Though haffy is right, its really simple to fix 360s.  I finally got around to fixing both of mine that broke 2 days ago and finished last night.

Doesn't mean anything, my first xbox once showed 2 red lights on top one time. many months later it started locking up alot when I was playing games like halo 2.
