It's part of the image innit. Part of what makes dudes like Capone so awesome is that... Idk, lack of ostentatious behaviour. Like in American Gangster. He didn't want to be famous or glamorous or notorious or to make a name for himself. He was out to run a business and build a good life for himself and his family.
