I don't belive in Free Market, I think things such as US security and Port Jobs should be kept in the US. We're really not doing that great in the good paying jobs over here. So it's not just Muslims or China in my opion.

My problem with the way everyone reacted to the ports deal is this: a US company wasn't responsible for security at these ports before. The previous firm was British. If you want to limit this to US companies, fine. Otherwise, STFU.

The UAE deal outrage comes from the gross anti-arabic sentiment and distrust in this country. Though China owns Hong Kong, not every company in Hong Kong has fully switched over to Chinese policy. Also considering that HK is one of the largest ports in the world, I'd say they are more than certified for the job.

The UAE deal wasn't bad, people were scared into thinking we were giving up our security. The media hyped it so much that it became a political plague...touch it and die. The same thing is happening with the China deal, except there are not as many negetive anti-Chinese stereotypes in the US right now, so it is not hyped as much.

example, Here in the US a person with a high school deploma could get a job at 30k a year as a telemarketer, or helpdesk. Now India has the same set up but they only charge about 3k a year, now that kid with a high school deploma works at Mcdonalds or wall mart and makes maybe 8 dollars an hour.

Now this is a bigger problem then Illegal aliens because it drives all salaries down massively.

I really do not see a problem with a Chineses company doing so. Unless there is any strong proof that the UAE or Chinese companies are related to criminal or terrorist activities, they should be given an equal priority as any other nation. If the Brits did it, so can they.

Really? Well, it never made national news. I never heard any complaints until the UAE company was going to get the deal. I think it was escalated because the Democrats wanted to try to use it against Bush. NOt to be outdone on matters of national security, the Republicans jumped on the bandwagon too.

Well most the ports in that deal are ours up in the north east(I think 4 out of the 7) so I know talking to people and alot of the Governers and Mayors where like why the hell do foreign countries have control over our ports at all.

I totally agree with them, they're our ports why the hell aren't we controling them. You got these stupid Greek shipping airs dating paris where are the american ones?? We don't have any cause we don't control our ports.
