Okay inspired by this thread and an idea I've been cooking up anyway..

What's the highest FPS you can get?

Post with Screenshot, your hardware, and optionally a link to your config.

I've got 615 here, I've had higher, but don't know where the SS went.

E5200 @ 3.6Ghz, HD4670 512MB.

I get 160 FPS all maxed out while fighting. But I cap it at 125 due to finray's sweet spots advice.

Dunno my FPS at lowest but you bet its 999 LOOOOOL

CPU is a E8400 @ 3 GHz and the GPU is the FTW edition of the EVGA GTX 280.

and lock it at either 125 or 250, which ever you get constant, a stable fps > a high but fluctuating fps.

8800GTX rapes 4670 on high resolutions and should be way better on lower resolutions too. 8800GTX and GTS G92 are pretty equal on lower resolutions but GTX wins it on high resolutions.

Force the max AA on your graphics panel in your desktop and any ATI card never drops in FPS (which comes from the 10.1 API spec) Whereas Nvidia cards do.

Its in every benchmark where they measure cards that are meant to compete with eachother. The HD 4670 is not meant to compete with 8800GTX/GTS/GT I do not know why you are all arguing about this.

Its the competitor to 9600 and 9500 series in which Nvidia loses and ATI wins at a price point as well, at just under $100 its just common sense to purchase the lower priced highest performing card wouldn't you agree? Also considering that the 9600s have a 192-bit bus whereas the 4670s only have a 128-bit bus.

Wouldn't you take a $299 card over a $600 card that performs about the same? After all, anything over 60FPS is 'rendundant'....in'nit???

I dont think the lot of you understand what is meant to compete against what or how competition for the GPU market works. Either way, arguing orange and apples is quite silly.

At the end of it all I think its just 'iSmug' label loyalty fanboyism.

The base rate of fire for the M4A1 (Which we'll use because it's the most used gun) in CoD4 is 800 RPM.

The highest you can increase your rate of fire by hitting one of these FPS "sweet spots" is, to my knowledge, an additional 28 RPM.

So how much does that affect your game?

Well (28/800)*100 (the formula for finding a percentage for all you math geniuses) is 3.5

Meaning that your gun will fire 3.5% faster, or 1.035 percent faster.

So, you are willing to sacrifice visual quality for a 3.5% increase in a single variable, and increase it by such a small amount that it will only make a difference if you both start hitting each other at the exact same time and both never miss. Through in head-shots, recoil, deviation, the lag and the compensation there of and you realize how little this affects your game.

So in the end, you're best off just going for an FPS that is between 30 and 60 and not worrying about this shit.
