once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Sadly they don't move enough air to keep my i7 cool. After being used to load temps of ~50°C from the Core2s, the i7 really shocked me

When you have that many GPUs and HDDs in a system cable management suffers. Sometimes I miss the days where all you had was the 20 pin ATX connector, 2 molex and a IDE cable for CD and HDD and a floppy power and data cable.

I see. Well I'm not satisfied. Everything has to be perfect

Shit, forgot one PC

lol, the literal DESKtop computer.

Yes, i know it's not technically a desk that the computer's on, but nothing else would have worked as well.

Kinda surprised they don't move enough air.... unless you got ones that are built to spin at a lower RPM than the others.  think i got the higher RPM ones.  then again, i also don't have it cooling my CPU.  have one as a bottom intake, and one as the rear exhaust.

It's the 1300RPM version AFAIK. Since my GTX295s drown out anything I might as well use some higher RPM ones

I didn't post a pic of my desk

I don't pay for the electricity I use, it's just a flat 50CHF per month

good thing ya dont pay for the power, my power bill went up 20$ a month after adding a 1kw PSU.

Changing the PSU shouldn't cause a big difference in power usage unless you get one that's vastly less efficient ...

High wattage PSUs often are less efficient at low load.

Those differences are pretty unnoticeable in this day and age. It's a matter of a couple of percent, usually about 83%->79% in good quality stuff.

Back in the 90's though... 70% went to 35%.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I'll do some fan profiles for mine with rivatuner when I have more time. The card is pretty much inaudible when idle. Load fanspeed might need some tweaking....

well, i'm sure i could use Rivatuner to adjust my fan speed as well.... i just figure it's already running at 55C/56C idle... silence would be nice, but dunno if i really want it running any hotter.

Q: Why is my card so hot idle?
A: Because the fan is spinning slowly.

Freezer:  on a GTX 295.... that at nice load hits the 80's easily..... 55/56 idle is nothing.  And it's at the stock speeds.
