Looks great. I really hope they put a multiplayer campaign mode in - but I bet they won't. It's one thing these games are always lacking (except Civ).
perhaps a coop campaign mode.
So that when you are having difficulties your buddy can just pop in your map and help you.

There will probably be a small print statement on their site when it comes out saying :
"This game is not meant to be played on maximum settings for another 7 years, start waiting".

The only RTS I've ever bought and played through was CoH...looking to add on to that this March.

I was gonna get the Collector's/Special/Uberelite edition, but what they give you is so utterly pointless I can't even fathom how Sega thought people would actually buy it..

    *  Empire: Total War
    * 34 page manual
    * Campaign Map
    * Artbook "The Art of Empire: Total War
    * 6 additional in-game units

Maybe if it was only $5 more (than the standard edition) it'd be worth it, but for $20 more you should get a LOT more than that. Look what they gave in the F3 CE (which I got)...

Couple things I would like to add about the game: I played most of the total war games except couple of expansions, but anyways they are getting better at analyzing and fixing problems. One of the things they keep missing is the process of including every civilization in Europe or every nation they include the main ones but they never include all of them, which is kind of less fun. Also they should of make it so each civilization has different units, throughout most of the medieval games certain units differ but a lot of units are alike or very similar visual vise. I know they have been trying to break away from the clone thing (taking away the fact that every soldier looks alike) they did a decent job, but I think they could do better. I think each civilization or nation should have its own unique units that are 100% different from the next one, since no two armies were ever alike. They should also add more detail to each soldier. Each soldier should have a history of his own, and therefore he or she would look different from the next soldier standing next to him, looks wise, clothes wise, hair wise, weapon wise, and so on.

Also Age of Empires series was on top of its strategy genre when the first Total War game out the Shogun one, which you got to play as Japanese. The AOE series released AOE 3 later on which was not that impressive, and kind of fell behind the Total War series... but consider this AOE 2 was considered one of the best strategy games of all time. But nonetheless since there is no real competitor out there that can challenge Total War series total war series is kind of like Microsoft its gonna make new changes to couple of new games but it wont make any drastic changes. From what I've seen thus far there is some improvement but a lot of other stuff was used from other Total war games.

blade, when it comes to games models and textures are the two of the most expensive (sizewise) content. The total war series already come on like 2 dvds, to do what you suggest as awesome as it would be would require quite a few more DVDs.

true I like the game dont get me wrong like I said I played most of the Total War games except couple of the expansions that they had, but Im just throwing stuff out there maybe in the near future or couple of years down the line they'll integrate some of this stuff.

Just placed a pre-order for Empire and two for Dawn of War 2 (one for a buddy). At least I'll have a worthy computer by then. This one'll get to play the pre-2004 titles.
