I mean "terrible" by 2009 standards. Doom was the true quintessence of but a game that basically 'feels' and moves in the same way is regressing back to a stage that goes beyond tasteful nostalgia.
Doom is still imminently playable with ZDoom/ZDaemon in a way that just doesn't do it for me with what I've seen of MoB. You can have nostalgia, but it has to be done just so. For example: every now and then, the gamer community is surprised with the occasional sprite-based platformer.

If you want an authentic Doom feel (other than Doom), give Serious Sam a go. Very impressive engine for its day and age.

What witty sarcasm can anyone possibly muster in response to that? It's a great game, but not the be-all-end-all.

Well, over 800 hours on vanilla, and 300+ hours on mods and I'm still hooked.. what more can I say? In my opinion it's the perfect game for playing alone.

How can the industry 'peak' at CoD4 when the game was so meagre compared to CoD1/CoD2? Different argument for a different thread but still... the fuck, honestly.

You're never funny, it's an eternal disappointment.

Well actually, disappointment itself has a transient quality, so really it's more like you're just... a failure. CoD4 being a "peak" of gaming is a mega-fail statement; it's not even the pinnacle of its own franchise, let alone of any genre or industry. In comparison to games like Merchants of Brooklyn it is of course in a different league, but that league isn't as flawless as your tinted glasses make it seem.

Back to topic - what exactly even is the point of this game? The trailer just seemed like a pointless showcase of gimmick-driven mechanics and comedy-weapons. The website itself looks as if it was made by a high-school student on FrontPage Express so I didn't even give that a second look either... this game says 'amateur' all over .

Seriously, if I want to beat someone to death with their own leg or throw heads across the map, I'll fire up Rune.

Sure if you like your fps to pause so you can click on your enemies left bollocks followed by his right, rather than spend the time to just shoot them.

I don't get why people get hungup on that.  The same system existed in both of the other Fallouts, so its not like its some magical game device they just thought of.

Anyways, videos puts of a huge Serious Sam vibe to me, over the top gore, bright colors, crazy stuff etc.  Most people have the same problems with SS, as the production values arent huge, gameplay isn't revoultionary, and its more of a niche title, as this will likly be.
