I tried playing Portal for the first time in a while and whenever I play there's no crosshair or rings to show what portals you have and the last one you shot. I've tried restarting the game, loading old games, starting new ones, and it's still not showing up. Google led me to a console command: 'crosshair 1' but the problem with that is that I can't even bring up the console! I press the console key and nothing happens, so I tried changing the console key to something else, and it still doesn't even show up.
Try backing up the game through Valve's program, deleting it off your HDD and re-installing it.
put -console flag in the shortcut target field

Had to put that in launch option under Steam, then I typed "crosshair 1" and everything is back to normal.
Mods, please close
It's a lot easier if you just go to options, then keyboard and then advanced, and then enable the console in there.
I tried searching around in all the options and couldn't find anything regarding that_j5689_ wrote:

EDIT: Oops I'm an idiot, I found it now. I didn't expect advanced options to be under a keyboard tab

That never worked for me in any steam games._j5689_ wrote:

Technically it's an advanced keyboard option so that's why it's under there. But yeah, it is a terrible location for it.mtb0minime wrote:
