in this moment of the game, Bf2 will outlive 2142's success. but both of those games are doomed to just pass away..
How many times must we tell you to stay the fuck out and go back to LOLSHOOTTHROUGHWALLS Cod4?
Got the Deluxe Edition as a b-day gift for twenty dollars at Best Buy. I'm a sucker for the hard copy, and not going through the headache of downloading some virtual version. Besides, that's a steal for a sequel to the game.
I expected going headfirst guns ablazing ala Rambo AK-wielding medics in Karkand. I was pleasantly surprised. This game aims a little more towards teamwork. One man alone can't rip everything to shreds with 4 grenades, plenty of ammo you'll never run out of, and prone diving madness.
This certainly handles closely to BF2. Some of the features really felt like they should've been in original BF2, not a separate entity. Weapon sway, kit customization, buddy feature, smoother main menu, space bar for the parachute instead of the 9 key you can never find until you're splat (but the BF2 community found a way to bind the chute to the space bar anyways). Awarding teamwork's a nice touch too. It felt like Dice listened.
The community seems to work more closely together. Either the servers I've been playing on are dedicated teamwork hounds, or the whole communities not major believers of going Solo. VoIP was actually used in the core game, and microphone setup worked better for me, so I chimed in my noob ideas too, which spared us from walking into a superbly prepared ambush. We had to whip out our defibs a few times nevertheless!
Speaking of Han Solo, an interesting looking Star Wars modification featuring the classic series armies such as the Empire and the Rebellion is in it's current stage 1.3. A worthy look, something I'll have to try when I get back to a faster Internet connection. 80kb speed for around 1gb can be a headache, but thankfully it ain't the size of Project Reality for BF2.
As for the holidays, let's hope we see that BF2 patch 1.5 and what it has to offer.
Die-hard fan of BF2, it's a given I'm loving 2142. I might add some of you guys here and Trackr to my buddy list when I get the chance. See ya in the future field!

I like how people claim BF2 have more variation.
Riiiight.
Infantry battles are rifle/shotgun/smg and grenades fight 24/7 all thou grenades seems to rain a bit to often. There is practically no change there. You got smoke and flash but I hardly found them useful.
That's about it on the weapons that the infantry use. So like no special toy or anything fun you can use.
For vehicles.
Tank - Well it's basically shoots powerful shoots or minigun bullets. Not much change here.
APC - Powerful shots against infantry and one powerful missile to tanks. Not much change there either.
Jet - Flying around shooting missiles or try with the chain gun on it. Not gonna do much more than that.
Heli - If you are on the MEC side you'll instantly notice this is the most powerful infantry rape vehicle in the game. TV missile is a bit unique but overall not much.
All vehicles on all sides handles the same.
That's your repetitive BF2. Infantry battles are pretty boring because you only stick to two kits. Medic or assault. At least I did. The rest kind pales and if there is a tank nearby you best option to just screw it and head for another place. Unless you like going anti tank but then you have no real infantry killer weapon. Whoopee
In BF2142 they focused on infantry battles much more than in BF2 because you notice how powerful you are when you are hidden.
In BF2 while being Anti tank, you'll be notified after like the first rocket and you only done 1/3 damage or so. In BF2142 that one hit can kill the tank. Making the tank driver being more careful other than just driving into an place.
You'll also notice that a lot of more buildings in BF2142 are easily climbed giving you much better feel when the enemies are all over the place other than, just around that corner or THAT corner.
That's what was so boring in BF2, you had very few places to be. Sniper for example only had like 2-3 places. So it was very easy to spot them. In BF2142 it can be a hell to find one.
As for statpadders. Well during the time I played there where few of them. I found more of them in BF2 and the same goes for people who goes into a building.
Since it's easier to gain points in BF2142 most people notice that it's not worth to stat pad because doing it normally often gains much more points. Teamwork payed off as you got loads of points from it.
Oh and for people who think BF2142 got lasers and jet packs. Just stop posting because we know you hate BF2142 because it wasn't your new BF3.
It's also not a mod. It changes everything and they worked hard on it. Otherwise BF2 is also a mod. But a crappier one because it loads slower than BF2142 and isn't as well optimized.

1) it has awsome concepts like titan mode that adds to the variety. i was up for that, but titan mode became too laggy when i tried 2142. bad execution by the way
2) BF2142 is basically Bf2.142 : read several game reviews i think Greg Kassavin made a review where they say its a mod. and most BF2 hardcore players say so too.
2142 wins it for me just because of the dog-tag thing. ...You know; having someone's tags added to my list appeals to the collector in me.

MY LITTLE DRONEY
hmmm i cant play cause my computer basically blows up, for some reason it can handle bf2
does it hurl you out your window with the force of the explosion?
do you make sure that you wear a vest and have bits of grease smeared on your arms at the time so you can pretend to be bruce willis?
are you sure that your computer is not really a kind of bomb?
does a german man threaten you over the telephone when you try to shoot the enemy?
in a past life, did you have a jewish secretary that made up a different answer-phone message every week?
hello? ...are you still there?
i've got a lizard
actually, i don't have a lizard
i used to have though
omega-6 is good for you
