my 4870 1GB arrived today...i checked UPS online and it said delivered 5 hours ago.  wtf?  i thought they would ring the doorbell for such a valuable item.

edit: holy fucking shit, this thing is HUGE.  didn't know 9.5 inches is that damn big.
edit2: actually its only like half an inch longer than my 8600GTS. thing is, it weighs so much more and is adamn brick. still pissed they left it out in 26 degree weather though.

I just bought a PSP...

I am nervous as fuck, I basically only want it for SNES games and it seems the new motherboards are going around that can't be hacked yet.
A few days worth of intense googling seems to indicate that all the Daxter bundles are old enough to be hackable... please be hackable...

This 50kg beast:

https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/IMG_0059-4.jpg

A 3kW big tower-UPS. Got it for a fiver from a guy responding to an ad of mine. And with it, I got these:

https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/IMG_0060-3.jpg

Twelve 7Ah 12V batteries. They were hooked up in series in the UPS, to create the hefty 144V required to run the it. They weigh in at a total of 30kg. Impressive.

Some more pics:

That's a fuse for ya!
https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/IMG_0065-2.jpg

Capacitors. Lots and lots of large capacitors. Battery there for size reference.
https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/IMG_0064-2.jpg

Those are some of the hugest transistors I've ever seen! And so many!
https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/IMG_0062-1.jpg

I'm probably not gonna keep it, as I can't afford to get enough new batteries (The ones I got with it are from 2004, and have been a bit mistreated), and I can get a good 4-500€for it without batts.

It also has LEDs for 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150% load, so you can suck 4.5kW out of this beast.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

You know, you haven't lived until you've ridden a UPS down a school corridor.

Bought a second hand E8500 today

Could only get it to 4.0 though, I blame my mobo and it's ridiculous vdroop. It's set to 1.46 in BIOS, 1.42 on idle via CPU-Z, and 1.374 under load...

I'm considering buying a new mobo tbh.

Hey, Sydney, do you still stand by that statement that you can't get UPSes?

This one is the 6th I've gotten totally, and 5th in a  month.

Go put that ad in yer paper, hobo.

EDIT: Check out my awesome multi-charger rig:

https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/IMG_0068-3.jpg

Charging them with 15V to break some of the sulfatisation in them*.

*Sulfatisation is when the acid in the batteries react with the lead, forming thick layers of a kind of lead-sulfate on the plates. Charging at a high voltage can break down some of it.

So I got this today:

https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/Bild173.jpg

Yeah, whilst it may look like a laser printer with nowhere to load paper, it is something far more awesome. This, ladies and gentlemen, is an industrial 6kW UPS. Not only is it worth around 1500€, but it is also capable of providing 6,000 Watts of continuous power, and blows the fuse of a normal room if ran for more than five minutes. Not because of any internal fault, but for charging it's capacitors. And that's with no load, and not even batteries. Once unplugged, it can power it's two 120mm fans, voltage converter and two of our school's computers for a good ten seconds. On only capacitor power. And that, my friends, is one hell of a lot.

I'm getting the 130kg worth of batteries tomorrow.

Yeah, those are some bad-ass caps.
https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/Bild174.jpg

And those are some bad-ass fans. If you place a paper towel above them, they suck a hole in it. Yeah, they're that powerful.
https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/Bild175.jpg

EDIT: Also, #1000

Spoiler (highlight to read):
See the guy to the right in the background of the first pic? He's fapping to it.
