I find the world large and interesting. Although cleancut and geared for a younger crowd the missions can be very hard and demanding and the sea battles with real people a blast. The game is about one year old and is available for free or premium here. As a online game it is constantly being changed and expanded.

I'm digging it. It's the first game since bf2 that has held my interest for more than a few days. It's easy to find people to plunder with as everybody scores big when in a crew and some quests are impossible alone.

When I was younger I used to play another Disney MMO and when this came out I debated switching to it...but got into BF2/other PC games instead.

I beta tested it though. Just wasn't willing to pay (yes I know you can play for free, but you don't get all the premiums).

I'll probably just get Empire: Total War. That'll give me my naval battle desire that I so need.

I played this with my step son and it was kinda cool, but we only did the free account and we couldn't get all the good ships.

Until then, Sid Meier's Pirates is good enough for me (the original is still the best).

That and VMK. I used to be OBSESSED with Disney when I was younger. No joke. I actually have a Test Track poster still up in my room.

Now it's changed to just theme parks in general, but I still love WDW. Rock N' Roller Coaster = amazing.

It held my interest for a few days. Some of the cooler features you had to pay for, but for the core game to be free, it could be fine slicing up the skeletons and sea vermin with mates. My siblings got into it, and the three of us had trouble getting the giant alligator on one level.

I've been getting the newsletter from Disney about the updates and changes they've made. Might get back into it and crew a cheap sea junk.

The sea battles are REALLY fun but the game is still not something I personally would pay 5$ monthly for.

Haha, yeah.

I liked it a lot the first two years, but as I began to get older, I got sick of the community. I actually used to be a mod on a very large (30K members) VMK community fansite.

Stepped down for personal reasons and the community being a bunch of fucking crybabies. Sure, there's some people here who need a good ass kicking...but this community, on the whole, is about 10x better than that one.
