Got a deal on a retail website for £999 with 1 year free insurance and a Sony Vaio slipcase (white)- worth about £40.00. Think in the high-street it retails for just over £1050 although I cannot be sure... I only searched for it in about 2-3 different high-street electronic stores. Much prefer the customisability and ease of Internet shopping ..Sup wrote:
Fuck me uzique, that laptop looks hawt!! How much did you pay for it?
It's great for what it is though, definitely the most 'sexy' Vaio laptop. Sony do a huge range of them-- ranging from office notebooks up to powerful multimedia and gaming machines. The laptop I purchased is part of their 'CR' series which are mainly focussed on lightweight office portability with style and media functionality (hence the smaller 14.1" screen, the lighter weight and greater battery life). Because of this 'specification' though it has an ATI 2-series mobility card that manages DirectX 9 but only to very low settings. I suppose that's a good thing though... now I can't play games and distract myself from real office work and essays whilst I'm on the move! Will leave that to the PC haha. I'm also loving the Windows-versions of portable music-making / DJ software such as Ableton Live, Fruityloops and Reason. Apple's Macbook is probably better for the music-purpose but I really can't grumble about what this laptop has to offer.
FYI the start-price for the CR series is around £750.00- which will get you a very nice media laptop with great office/presentational capabilities. It definitely isn't geared to be a 'gaming' laptop though by any means, so the price tag is slightly misleading. As you originally said though, I had to get one because it's just quite simply the sexiest Windows laptop around imho .

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
