Right on time I guess since they found a way to backup all your games (copy) to PS3's HDD. But I'm not really into the big HDDs. 40GB suffices for me.

I bought the 80 MGS4 bundle which is compatible with PS2. I really don't care about the extra 80 gb without the machine being able to read PS2 games tbh.
40GB is enough for me
i would like to see PS2 compatabilty for the 40GB one though
anyway you can easily make a 500GB one with a laptop HDD

Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

TBH I'd rather have the 80 GB backwards compatible version. There's no need for that extra storage space since you can stream movies and music off your PC. Not to mention I still play my PS2 games to this very day. And I could use that extra $100 towards a game; it's ridiculous how expensive games are getting these days.

Seriously, stop with that shit. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this and is actually quite notable news. So shut the fuck up.
I'm good with my 40, tbh....if I want to upgrade, I'll buy a 500gb HDD from Newegg. That's what's the best and most awesome thing about the PS3 imo.
^ It was a joke
The only PS3 with full compatibility is the MGS4 bundle. The new 80gb for 400 bucks isn't compatible.mtb0minime wrote:

Yeah, the backwards compatibility is kinda a bummer....
I already have a 160gb Ps3 I have a ton of movies and all my music on it, as well as a 10gb partition for linux.
2.5 inch drives get expesive though, and new egg had very few greater then 160....And price when up real quick.

Was I living under a rock dunno but I'm just listing through an ad and there it says the new PS3 80GB model supports writing on Bluray and its in stores now.
lol it was magazine ad. The blue text says (translated): The main advantage the new generation brings is the possibility of writing and reading HD content. On basic disks you can write up to 25Gb of data, on dual layered ones up to 50GB of data.sergeriver wrote:

Yeah, really...that'd make up for not having backwards compatability, considering Blu-Ray writers are like 200 bucks.sergeriver wrote:

Oh, I don't think that means writing actual Blu-Rays, just data onto the disk.

If that's so I'm going to throw my PS3 to the trash can..Sup wrote:

No. You can't do a straight conversion from the dollar to the british pound. The price in Britain will probably be around 300-350.SEREVENT wrote:

damnit they need to stop making consuls better it pisses me off when I buy something and then they release something new a months later. Same thing with microsoft. I guess I'm going to wait from now on instead of buying consuls on release dates.

^^ do you all know if we can buy the hard drive and put it in ourselves ? Or are current ps3 owners fucked ?
You can buy any notebook HDD and put it in, no matter how big...I'm going to eventually.Obiwan wrote:

Yes, it even tells you how to do it in the PS3 manual, so it is definitely doable.Obiwan wrote:
