BF2S Forums [NHL 09] Can't Wait

Hey, I was just gonna start a thread on hockey games... good timing...
I haven't played one in a bit, but have fond memories of playing ?2005? drunk at a friends house on PS2 with 4 controllers hooked up.

I just downloaded 2008 tonight (well the demo) and man do I have no idea how the controls work
Actually I am starting to get it, it just took a few games (man the games are short on the demo). One I get it down I'll have to try out the 2k series.

How long until 09 is out? Figures that right about the time I plan to buy 08 the wait for the new one begins.

hey poseiden, you got nhl 08 for PC?

I rent it, win the cup & be done for another year.

I told you, I never buy sports games (besides racing) on the PC. Any Baseball, Hockey, Football or Basketball game I'll ever buy will be on a console.

ya but there is so much more you can do with PC.  updated rosters, mods.  I have download boards and ice packs so the arenas look like they do in real life.  Plus there are audio downloads that make it mouch more realistic.

Consoles have updated rosters too. We get them every 2 months and at the trade deadline/before the playoffs/at the end of the season. And I don't need mods for a sports game. Especially NHL games.

That's why Basketball/Baseball/Football/Hockey games are always better on the consoles.

Do I suck or is it just about impossible to win a game on NHL08 demo? I have won a few but they were epic battles, usually the best I can do is hold them off till the shoot out.

Also...How do you do the face offs? Every time I win a face off the guy I pass it back to instantly slap shots down the rink and I get an icing call.

Just press the right joystick back once as you see the ref move his hand and you'll pass it to your defenseman.

I think I may have been pressing forward? I tried a bunch of different stuff and it was the only thing I could see that would make his stick move...They only show the controls for a split second during loading so I only have time to look for one thing each time

I still wish I had a turbo/hard check button like in the old ones lol

Of course, EA uses Airboune. Go figure. However, it looks fucking awesome.

If you had a PS3, then you would be playing the demo. As it is on the store now.

It's on the  EU store mate. Your US store will get updated later today The 2k9 one came last week I think. And it sucked imho. This one is pretty good.
