i was once a big time pc gamer. loved the controls , and the power of the system that can run games at 60+fps.  i just got tired of emptying my bank account just for upgrades. several thousand dollars of upgrades just for a $50.00 USD game does not seem practical to me anymore even though i make good money to this date.
Turning down the graphics doesn't affect gameplay that much...

Oh, and unless you use a light gun, you can't beat the Keyboard and mouse in terms of accuracy and precision in FPS.
The PC also has the best simulators (flight and otherwise), a market the consoles will never take, as the consoles are typically geared to the average person, not the guy with the pilot's license.

Upgrading every 2-3 years works for me and most of the gaming dudes I know in person..........
Computer gamers get so hung up on having to play all maxed out lol

You can keep the same level of hardware for years, you will just keep getting lower settings on games. But with the advancement of games, lower settings look better and better and things just kinda level out. Then, unlike a console you can just buy one piece at a time. If you don't have the best CPU for your socket, or the best graphics card you can upgrade those for less then the price of a console.

They will both last, but consoles will move closer to PC's...

They both have there own high points... Consoles controllers have two axis per stick, one for L2 one for R2, and at least the PS has an axis for each of the 4 main buttons. The computer only has two axis for your mouse, then on/off switches for everything else. There are many games that benifit from the extra control of all those axis'.

For FPS computer controls ARE better...But console controls are 100X more comfortable, much more relaxed. Computer games require you to be set up at a desk, and for me at least, feel like they are messing up my wrists... Point and shoot aiming IS better, but if you get used to it aiming with a controller isn't THAT bad, and when everyone is using one your all on equal ground...the benifit of a mouse doesn't really even come into play.

Consoles are also nice in that its more of a level playing field. You don't have to deal with the guy who plays with all settings on low so he can have the advantage of no shadows...You don't have to deal with the guy with the uber computer that can see all the way across the map. While some modded controllers exist the number of players who feel like they need special scripts and autofire macros is WAY down, and there is almost no chance that someone is hacking...

Since I got my PS3 I have barely done any computer gaming; its just more comfortable and convenient to play games on my PS3 kicking back in a lazy boy.
