I love RTS games, but I've only played a few, the CnC series not included. I have a friend who is a maniac about them and says I should at least try Generals, but I don't know what to expect. So, is the CnC Series good? Or should I go with SupCom?
SupCom and CnC are totally different kinds of RTS and they are both amazing. So can't really help you

On another note: Command and Conquer games are great. I would recommend some of the older ones though as they tend to be better.
CnC can provide hours of fun with its diverse factions and selection of units. I've been playing CnC for at least 10 years and still enjoy the occasional war with guns and tanks.
Red Alert 2 has the Soviets duking it out against the Allies, and from there, you can choose sub-countries aligned the two united forces. You can waste a few hours enjoying the SP campaigns. LAN and skirmish are pretty good, the more the merrier.
Generals is mainly modern conflict with the Chinese, USA and GLA (Mid-East Coalition), much like BF2. Each team has unique weapons that are fun to use in the masses, but the games are shorter than previous games with the faster-powering super weapons. Still, a convoy of Hummers with TOW missiles going against Chinese flamethrowers.
Tiberium Wars. CnC 3, I personally believe EA killed the Tiberium series. It boasted better graphics than better gameplay IMO. I was expecting epicness of an unfounded level, alas . . . Red Alert 3 looks to be good however. Red October 08, get in on the latest "cold war".

The first command & conquer was awesome, but as the series grew old it started to suck more & more.
Supcom on the other hand ruins all other RTS games with its strategic zoom , you just can't get used to not having it.
Total annihilation was the precurssor to supcom & was voted one of the best games ever, supcom is 10x TA & the expansion for supcom Forged Alliance is epic.
Supcom is why Starcraft 2 will /fail.

I just played the demo for C&C3 today, so far I like it.

I personally think for mp and skirmish modes they should just include both the new versions of each side as well as the old sides dressed up in fancy 3D. So you can play old school starcraft in 3D or the new game. No mixing and matching though.
CoH is quite good too. I wanna try Sins.

Ive been playing the C&C series ever since the first one got released, have every single one on CD/DVD, and heres a few facts about the series:
- As time has gone on, graphics have improved
- As time has gone on, the size of a game and the gameplay itself has gotten worse
C&C3 was turning out to be a very good game, first time since Generals (and before that, RA1) that a C&C game was actually seeming to be fairly good: ok, mammoths are slightly overpowered, but hey, they arent invincible. That was V1.00. Why they had to patch the game to give less income and increase the costs of most things I will never know, its slowed the game right down and results in smaller armies and a much better chance for faggot abilities to destroy them all. Oh, and most buildings dont give a build radius anymore, which bunches your base up for more faggot abilities to destroy even more. A-bombs/Iron Curtain/Chronosphere in RA1 were weedy, but they were fair. They couldnt turn the tide of a battle nor destroy an entire base.
As a result of this, I play C&C3 only on V1.00 and I now have even lower expectations for RA3 for its balance and reliance upon special abilities to win games.
Long gone are the days of C&C1 & RA1 where tanks would face, shock horror: tanks. Now, they either get a big-ass asteroid destroy them, an over-powered SW blow them all up, or some faggot ability that makes them shoot at & kill each other.
Other than Yuris revenge, KW is turning out to be the worst expansion for the entire C&C series in terms of units and abilities. Mind control and hallucination abilities for Scrin/NOD are the most pathetic thing Ive ever seen, and is also why I uninstalled YR within a few days. Global domination does seem like a great, new and fresh idea though, so I might stick with KW for a little bit to try it. Also, how a group of 10 NOD rocket soldiers can kill 7 mammoth tanks I will never understand: yes, the patching process has failed yet another EA game.

Total Annihilation and Warzone 2100 have many, many better features than C&C. TA is the only RTS that was more fun than RA1 IMHO. Thing is, they are both very old and outdated now.DoctaStrangelove wrote:
