Im happy to hear that you had a nice time here.
Sad thing is not much has changed since then.

We have nothing to export except the workers, maybe wine and products of porn industry
I remember only one thing which gave our country bad reputation:
it was a commercial poster of Amnesty International that showed a gipsy kid with a beaten-up face, and the text was: "Donate for this poor little kid who was beaten up by hungarian policemen..." or something like that.
It is a fact that maybe 60% of hungarians dislike "roma" people (we cant say gipsy, because that is considered as a racist term, instead they are officially called romas), but it was not realistic.
I did not see any flyer or poster dealing with the same problem in france (many french hate arabs) or in germany (turkish minority).

I spent some time in Budapest on pass from Bosnia about 6 years ago.  Kings' Bridge was beautiful, and I enjoyed walking along the Danube.  It just so happened that the currency rate was 100 Marks to the Forent, so was easy for a dumb american to make his way.  Great subway system, and most people I met were very polite to an american soldier in uniform.

Our education system sucks balls; last year we had to go two weeks without teachers for a few of our lessons, before they finally just relocated us to different classes. There is a lot of stuff going on about that still
