BF2S Forums Service Communication Failure: PnkBstrB.exe initialization failed COD4

Have you tryed pbsetup.exe (it updates pb)(note, some games include pbsetup.exe with them)? Also, check your firewall(s) making sure they allow iw3mp.exe, pnkbstrA.exe, pnkbstrB.exe and pbsetup.exe (Note: Turning off firewalls dose not work in some cases).  Another thing to try would be pbsvc.exe (it can check and reinstall pb).

Btw, yes i read your post, I'm just checking to cross things off so the simple fix isn't overlooked.

Well, you can always play on non pb servers, their seems to be a good number of them around. Also, dose it happen with every server, or, just randomly? I know pb has been acting up ALOT on BF2 lately for some people i know. So, it could just be a even balance, you can always summit a ticket, though i dought it would help.

Also, do you have any programs that would somehow block programs (pb) from running?

A few other ideals, check and see if you even have pnkbstrB.exe. Also, not sure if this would work, but, have you tryed starting pnkbstrB.exe up manually.


Another thing, pb seems to have a pnkbstrB.exe for every pb game, thus, make sure you have a pnkbstrB.exe in the right place (a cod4 file). Mine was in: C:\Users\Joshua\AppData\Local\PunkBuster\COD4\pb (stupid vista). I also noticed some PnkBstrB.txt files that seemed like logs, might be worth taken a look at.

rebooting the pc is allways a good option. mostly work for me to get rid of those kicks
