This has bugged me for ever. I see it written in both ways. Is one of them wrong, or is there a difference? You experts living on your two islands, enlighten me.

whisky is also English, American and Canadien. But we also have whiskey that isn't Irish. As Americans, we don't care.CameronPoe wrote:

It's a tad more localised than that I'm afraid.SEREMAKER wrote:

It comes from the gaeilge word 'uisce' meaning water.
In fact the Irish word for whiskey is 'Uisce Beatha' which literally translates as 'Water of Life'..............stereotyporama!

I usually go for Jim Beam Black or Maker's Mark.

As I said, I love me a Johnnie Walker. Black mostly, but Blue on rare occasions.chittydog wrote:

One of my favourites. So yeah Whiskey.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.
JW is good stuff, depending on the label. Red is shit. Black is good. Green is good, but weird tasting. Gold is greatness. I've never had Blue.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Just had a glass of this bourbon when I cooked up this poll.

I like the taste Laphroaig and other ones like it, with the strong taste of smoke and turf. A teaspoon of water in the mix to open the taste and there you go.
