I can't keep up with M.O.A.B. ridiculous, almost spamming, rate of production; but I managed to finish an-other drawing. I made it in a similar way to the previous one; which, yes FBItech, means I traced my own mech-pencil drawing(!)

that's amazing. I tried oil painting but the only way I can make things look 3d is by piling on the paint Are you an art major?OmniDeath wrote:

Woah, thats good. Not a fan of the "shaky" outline though....everything is crisp, and then the outline...Lai wrote:

Hey M.O.A.B. since you seem to be drawing the same character for quite a while now, could you provide some background information and give us an impression of the overall setting?
I just went through the thread another time and I've apparently missed this one before. It's an interesting one actually, since I know the girl you've drawn. Well not personally but she used to be at my school.M.O.A.B wrote:
This is still your best one though.M.O.A.B wrote:
Actually despite the number of drawings I've done of the same character, not actually the main one though lol. But shes part of a specops team in a book I'm writing.Lai wrote:

You know I based it on Nat Tena?
This is the main guy (character) ^

That character I wanted to make a while back is still sat on hold, but I did spend some time on the weapon, and made it work in the good ol' BF2 engine.
Here is a little description I made up for it:
Still much animation tweaking work to do, not to mention the texturing of the weapon itself (I only layed out some of the base colors so far)
I updated the model to make it work with having two weapons (this updated and refined version still have to be imported)
Had a few funny moments messing around with bf2
Here is a little description I made up for it:
The Z1A3 Colonial Marine Corps martian issue battle rifle.
Its main armament is its .50 caliber riffeled barrel, with a 20 round mag.
This is intended for accurate medium and long range engagements over the wast martian plains. To support this a scope is standard issue for the marines stationed on mars.
For close quarter engagement it has a 5 round semi automatic shotgun in the handguard.
The weapon is made from light weight polymers, carbons and titanium alloys.

In al honesty, it's really good. But this,..
..,is just hilarious. .50 Cal cartridgein a lightweight assault rifle??? That magazine you've rendered isn't gonna hold twenty cartridges either, more like five. Also the scope mount doesn't look too stable, it's gonna get drilled right off as soon as you fire XDZ-trooper wrote:

Looks pretty cool, but if you want to get past like mega recoil issues and keep it a .50, you could use the ammo from this,Z-trooper wrote:

Yea, I am aware of this, .50 cal rounds fired from a M4 platform... I dont think my desing is that unrealistic, just look at the Recoil system and free floating barrels in Barrets .50 rifles.. they are semi automatic too (most of them). I dont see the problem tbh. The scope thing as Lai mentioned is a whole other thing, but that was just my imagination.M.O.A.B wrote:

These are always fired supported from the prone position, except (which was intended as a one-man anti helicopter system):M.O.A.B wrote:

but it's arguable much heavier and not practically used as an AR/BR. However since your guys are stationed on Mars, their weapons can be much heavier due to less gravity, which in turn allows for more recoil. I do think that in any case there is a niche for a .50 non-sniper rifle. It could fit in between the 100 (maximum effective range .50 Beowulf) and 600 meters (roughly starting range anti material rifles). It would serve as a supportive weapon though, rather than a standard issue AR/BR. Merely for the lack of full auto capability it would be rejected by most modern armies as such (which I personally think is still a mistake).

This is a really, really rough model of a Strela. It isn't entirely accurate, but I made this for an Inventor class, so having it work took precedence over the form. I still think this it is cool though, and the Soviet star turned out great.

Dont take it too seriously Lai its only a little pratice concept model for a mod I'm developing that takes place on mars in the 23rd century - a LOT can happen with materials and technology my friend
Here are a few examples of some of the other (probably unrealistic stuff) I've done - though we have tried to keep it as close to what we think is the future as possible.

http://offworldmod.com for more info - our development forums are open for view. Playable demo released (proof of concept), but we are finalizing a new build within a few weeks.

Nice, those dropships remind me of Starship Troopers hehe.
I'm wishing I had PS or something at the minute, so I could colour my drawings well. Would also help define the characters better.

Did these two last night, one being a redraw of an earlier image with additions.
Drew this one today,
Just finished drawing this one, probs needs heavier shading but this is my main character close up,
