So I was getting the urge to play it again and I installed it. Man there really aren't that many servers or players.  COD1 has more servers active.

I really enjoyed the Assault game type. Convoy was the fucking coolest.

Is the newest one any good?

The newest one's decent. Not as many innate options as 2k4, but there are mods.

Get the original UT.... (But then it is 9 years old, so I doubt there'll be anyone playing online either). But it is a much better game.

Go to a LAN Party and get some rounds going

Agreed UT is much better as a LAN game.

Indeed all games are better on LAN, save the BF games because you need allot of people to have the most fun with them.

This reminds me of the time we spread UT over the school network in Yr8 and 9. We had LAN games every Friday and End of Term.
