the flood levels from Halo were awesome, without flood killing those little dudes that scream the whole time would be boring, flood livened it up.

The first part of R6:V when you aren't in Vegas yet. I think you're in Mexico. So boring.

the first part of the last mission in MOH:AA where you run through the forest. I tried for days but the snipers kept on killing me. I got pissed and turned on god mode.

SOF2, on the hardest difficulty when flying in the huey using the mounted M60. Hardest singleplayer fps level, and its not even halfway through the game. Completed it via luck in the end with regards to the SAM missiles.
Even the last mission was easier that that

I guess I can't argue with the water temple, but that Crysis level sucked ass too! My computer runs it at 20-25 FPS normally, and went down to 5 on that level.

I cant remember the name of the level, but there is one part in Kashyyk where you have to cross a bridge, take out 4 super droid dispensers and plant a bomb. Hardest part of the the fucking game, in the middle of the game if I remember too. I tried for fucked ages to get the squad across to plant bombs on the dispensers, but there were always like 30 fucking droids shooting at me, so I would always run out of health or ammo when I got to the third dispenser

That's a very, very close second. I don't know what they were thinking. "Guys we've made this really cool snow level with loads of open ended combat and huge scenery, let's follow up on that by having the most repetitive level in FPS history".

Mentioned this before. Bungee ran out of time. They sold out to MS, and MS wanted a prize kiddie for the suxbox.

loool i was wondering wtf was going on there. Dire level tbh.

But the worst has got to be that trek back to get the psg1 in metal gear solid 1, looongest trek ever and almost stopped me from replaying the game like 5 times. Almost.

It takes about 5 minutes..

I can't think of a single worst level at the moment. I've been having a think the past few days and I can't come up with an outright worst.

What's all this crap about the water temple? Its been years since I've played the game, so can't really remember it. But I do know it was neither hard nor annoying at the time.

Worst level for me would have to be the SF training in AA. The one you have to get to some points without being seen, it takes for ever and is the most boring shit ever.... (and as such I have never completed it).

Final Fantasy XIII - Getting last GF Eden i never realised to turn on no encounters so i slashed my way down took ages anyone tried can probably imagine the pain.

Battletoads ( NES ) - oh god i hated the speeder levels if you was´nt on top you were screwed had to repeat everything again, you could´nt afford to loose continues that early on either.

Shadowgate ( NES ) If you died you died there were insane riddles and puzzles to solve sometimes the most unlogical way, if you missed something early on you were dead cause weird cavemen spawned again and of course you only had one arrow or rock to get past the first time. Besides this it was a brilliant game.

I think you mean VIII not XIII.

Anyway the most annoying singleplayer level would be the one in Republic commando where you have to take over 3 hangars swarming with any droid you can imagine which keep respawning if you don't take out specific crates.

Had to tone down the difficiulty just for that part >_<

Why is it boring? It was quite amusing imo, sunny and some nice music in the streets, shooting down those taco's

HL2: Episode 2

Waiting for the one elevator, where you have no ammo and its just guys rushing you in the pitch black for like 5 minutes and you cant even fucking see anything because you flashlight keeps dieing and you cant fucking be left alone for long enough for it to recharge any decent amount, and all you can do is use your gravity gun and the 2 seconds of battery life you have built up to find explosive tanks on the ground to defend yourself.
I pretty much stopped playing that game for a while when I got to that one.

In the first Splinter Cell, it was one of the last levels....You were in some basement/cellar and some guy gives like a 4 minute speech that you cant skip right before one of the hardest parts of the game. I got some damn tired of watching that long ass cinematic over and over waiting to try again....

GTA SA, trying to get all gold on the drivers license. The one where you had to do four or five laps around that tight cone course. I spend HOURS missing that by like one second. Almost the only way to do it was to nudge the inside cones at the turn around part slightly closer in to cut that last tenth of a second off. That shit was near impossible.

There's one level in SOCOM II where you have to escort this weapons specialist (aka a weak nerd) through three facilities and enemy fire. Escort missions are almost never fun, and the game just proved that.

Another one was the third Bowser from Super Mario 64. I only beat him a month or two ago while on a nostalgia trip, so it technically took 12 years to do that, even though it's not really a level per se.

Also, the mission where you have to nuke Yuri in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. You have a tiny base in the corner of the map and have to fight through Kirovs, Apocalypse tanks and all sorts of things and nuke his base not once, but twice, while likely getting nuked by him at least once if playing on easy.

Yeah, so defense from a command standpoint (as opposed to the hill in CoD2  which was epic) and escort missions aren't cool.
