Range Rover Vogue

My father is hunting down a new car, and asked me to reccomend him one. I've narrowed it down to these 3. Yes, it has to be this big, and no, don't even think about reccomending a Q7. I won't be using this car too much (Mom's isn't that big and easier to drive), but there are still a couple of brothers w/ friends who need seats

Pro's and Con's:

X5:
+ The best drive
+ New model has big trunk
- Lacks good 3rd seat row
- Lacks adaptive cruise control

Vogue 2009:
+ Great drive
+ Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lacks good 3rd seat row
- I feel the model will look "old" within a year.

Mercedes:
+ Adaptive Cruise Control
+ Good 3rd seat row
+ High tech (push button start, unlocks when you are near it, 3rd row folds down electricly
- A slight "buss" feeling.

all four by fours fail compared to the rangerover, it is the epitmy of 4x4's, easily most luxurios and its massive .... its got amazin space....lacks good seat row ...thts rubbish

I've thought about the Cayenne.

It's a great drive, however, the back seats suck compared to their competition. Back seats with leg room is important, which is something all the other cars have. Also, the cayenne lacks a lot of other "tech" stuff (reclinable back seats, three rows, adaptive cruise, etc) and offers worse comfort than these three. Other than the driving, it's actually worse than the competition mentioned above.

My boss has had a new Range Rover every 2 years for the past 20 or so. He now owns a RR Vogue and he swears it is the last one he will own. It has become a bit of a company joke because it spends more time in the workshop than on the road.

As soon as his lease is up, he's getting the BMW X5.

My parents used to own a Range Rover. Nice car but slow, heavy and loads of little problems.

Right now we have a X5. I just adore that car. Great and agile drive. With the 3.0sd engine surprisingly fast. Everything about it is just better than the rest. Loads of fun electric gadgets. (You also have the start button and the automatic unlock - just because you mentioned it as a merc +).

The Merc has the usual, "I'm a slow heavy car that is absolutely boring and full of cheap looking plastic crap and stupid interior design"-feel to it.

I vote Bavarian Motor Works just because I think it looks the best and I'd definitely like to get one. Only problem is it's an SUV, so why spend mega bucks on a nice car and have to spend even more mega bucks on gas?

Do BMW still insist on the run flat bullshit? Flame surfacing was bad enough (to begin with atleast), but the ride quality (or lack there of) was totally unacceptable for me. Fair enough there supposed to be drivers cars, and that whole 'ultimate driving machine', but driving round felt like the suspension had been welded solid.
