Agree with this. Bad timing on your part, the officer could have been a little more leniant though.Snake wrote:

I was doing 30 atleast, and about ten feet at best from the crossing, even if I did immediatly assume it was red while I was blinded, I couldnt of brought the car to a complete stop in that distance. And/or, I would of stopped right in the middle of the crossroads and caused an obstruction to cars now making there way/side impact on the drivers side. Fact if I did try to stop its almost certain there would of been an accident.Gawwad wrote:

Many factors could have turned that situation around however.Bell wrote:

Thats why there is a 3sec or so pause for the perpendicular lane before it turns green. Imo the yellow light should last 10sec not 2sec before turning red.Gawwad wrote:

Yes you deserve a ticket because honestly you ran a red light, doesn't matter the circumstances. However, take it to court and see if you can fight it. Some judges might be a little more lenient.
tbh, if you missed the change and by the time you looked back at the road ahead the light was red and you ran it, you deserve what you get. You obviously had your eyes on the cop car for far too long. If you didn't allow yourself ample time to react and stop, especially considering the delay for the yellow, you were quite frankly driving dangerously.Bell wrote:

sorry
You do realise I couldnt see anything? If we work on the asumption from being blinded to realising I need to brake is a second, I am going to travel a fair distance in that second. Basically I have already crossed the line by the time I regain my potency, therefor I have no choice but to either continue on or brake. At the speed I was doing (30ish), if I immediatly assumed the light had changed to red and put on the breaks, it would of took, what, 20 odd feet to stop? If not more. Bringing me to a hault right in the path of the parallel traveling traffic, potentially causing an accident. And causing the police car to smash into my rear, he showed no sings of stopping.Buckles wrote:

Remember though, as far as I was concerned, the lights where still at green anyways as I crossed the line, I had no reason to assume that in the instant I was blanked it had changed. As, not only did the car infront go through it, but the car behind me (the police car) had all travelled through in less than a second. What reason did I have to assume it was red? Other than the sirens afterward. Should also point out he didnt immediatly turn the sirens on, we went half way down the road before he bothered (deliberting as to whether or not he should pull me?).
Still, it doesnt really matter. Am back in the states now so fuck you Srathclyde police and your fine
I defy anyone on here to tell me you can bring a car to a stop safely in 5 feet when your doing 30.

Then for one you shouldn't be scoping your rear-view so close to the junction. Whether or now you knew the light had changed, the fact remains that as a driver you SHOULD have known and therefore have been prepared to stop. If you didn't know, you're driving dangerously.
But yeah, fuck it. No fine for you.

Like I said, I merely glanced at it. But as a driver. You are charged with keeping alert to everything that is around you. Your just as likely to experience an accident from the side or the rear as infront of you. Infact I could argue that the police car intimidated me by driving so close, almost tailgating me. Not checking my rear and sides for traffic and potential dangers would be dangerous driving.Buckles wrote:

Again though, I'll enjoy spending that £60 on myself tonight
