The military production base was instituionalised after WW II - so you are right in so far as war will not give a boost like WWII did unless it requires increased production.  This war doesn't.

Military spending does not preclude economic growth.  Reagan oversaw Massive increases of military spending, and at the same time saw some of the largest post war growth this country has experienced.  Why?  Because rather than just spending more on the military on top of what was already being spent, he CUT SPENDING on the whole.  It isn't about what you spend the money on, it's how much you spend as a whole.

It's not just that Bush is spending lots of money...it's that he spends huge amounts like nothing else is going on.  He would have been considered profligate without the war or the hurricane.  The fact that he STILL is spending money as fast as we can print it AFTER we have had to cough up hundreds of billions more on extraordinary expenditure; that is beyond comprehension.

Reagan Tax plan untouched. Breif dip when  the defence industry shut down.

after 50 years of WAR footing Reagan shuts down the cold War. and this frees up 1/3 the tax burden for clinton to spend while he can cut all millitary and intell operations at will. of course this would cost us later.

Whoever is against the president of our country should be hung for sedition.  Any war to rid the world of a horrible dictator is ok in my book.  Why are so many people on these forums liberals?  Is it because it's mostly college students and high school kids playing?...and they're more prone to being dumbass democrats? 
I see my comment on the beginning of page 7 got some attention.  I do appreciate your kind words CoNnOr.  As for you snipedya14, I'm not 12 or 13.  I'm 24 and I'm very educated.  I've learned enough to know that democrats are all about taking...taking from guys like me that actually make money and not sit on their fat ass waiting for the welfare check to come in.  If you open your minds and actually listen to the things democrats say on Capital Hill, you'll wonder why they're such idiots and do the things they do.  They are morons and their ideals are not of God.  Abortions...gay rights...etc, things God finds to be an abomination.  How can any Christian be a democrat?  The d-bags in the middle east will get what's coming to them.  It's phophesied in the Bible that during the end times of Jacob's troubles that the king of the north will rise up against the king of the south because of gold.  Now, what could gold mean to the kings of this world...hmmm...OIL???  Sure enough!  The king of the south is the muslim nations and the king of the north will be a combined Europe force.  I guess some of the battles on this game really will play out in real life...lol.  Ultimately, the Muslims aggressors will be destroyed.

None of which has anything to do with what I wrote.  You are addressing the previous portion of the cycle.  I am talking about the next.  If you managed to read the rest of what I wrote, you will see that my point is Bush's spending is setting us up for huge problems.  Problems which are currently being averted currently by spending encouraged by the housing boom.  If you take even a small interest in studying economics this is readily apparent.  Read about Japan in the 90s for a textbook case of what is happening.

You guys that defend Bush under any circumstances have to make me laugh.  Let me make something clear:  I AM A CONSERVATIVE.  What I am not, is someone who happens to defend Republicans even when they are wrong.  You criticize the Democrats for doing that all the time (and you are right, but) then you do the same thing.  Rather than defending him just because he is in the party you identify with, spend a little time and effort actually studying him.  Party politics is designed to make you feel like you have a stake in the contest, when you really don't.  Wake up and realise that a bad President in your party, is still a bad President.

As a member of the US military, I can't disagree with this statement enough.  It is every American's "GOD" (please insert diety of your choice) given right to disagree with the administration of any elected official.  This is one of the greatests things about our country; I can disagree with the president, and I don't have to worry about being rounded up, taken out of town and shot.

"BRUTAL FIGHTING IN AFGHANISTAN!!"  No, there isn't.  Maybe every now and then, but 90% of the time it's some Afghani equivalent of a redneck sitting on a big hill and lobbing about a dozen mortars onto a base.  Then he runs away and gets wasted by either a) Convoy of Security Police. b) Fast response choppers, or c) the base just flat out opens up on his hillside and turns his body into mincemeat.  These un-organized amateurs are just plain stupid and useless.  I've been there, I've seen this, and I have friends there now.  It's pathetic.

7.  "Terrorists take another hostage".  How fucking stupid are these people?  Ok, let’s say you want something, whats the best way to get it?  I know!!  Lets kidnap an unarmed undefended female American journalist who has no power or political pull and we will demand the release of 15 terrorists or we will behead her!!!  DUMBASSES!!!  NO WONDER YOU LIVE IN THE DESERT!!!

Stampedes.  I recall from memory at least 4 stampedes in the Middle East last year.  Are you people to ignorant to possibly spread out a little bit?  Maybe even go to these places at different times or take a different way there?  Also, if someone yells "BOMB", don't run, you’re already dead.  I heard the stampede at the Mecca pilgrimage was caused because some tripped over some misplaced luggage.   ......*sigh*

Everything is always worse in the Middle East.  Anyone here about the ferry that sank with 1300 people on it?  WTF kind of ferry is that?  That’s almost the same as the Titanic sinking and all this is,...is a fucking ferry!!  Their worse than Mexicans!  If you wreck into a van on a Texas interstate you may accidentally kill 8 illegal immigrants, crash into a van in the Middle East and your either going to explode or kill at least 30 of them.

4. Suicide Bombers.  Dumbest...idea....ever.  Kill 2 Americans and 27 Iraqis.  Those are great odds.  You fucking people.

3.  "Our religion is better than your religion."  I'm getting real sick of that shit.  Every time you hear from anyone in the middle east of importance it's the same old shit "America is the infidel, Mohammed this Allah that, Allah supports us and not you blah blah blah"  Take you radical religious bullshit and cram it up your asses!!  Where was Allah when two of your "radical regimes" were toppled in under a year?  I guess it is Allah who forces you to hide in caves and hide your faces under turbans when you have innocent journalists and contractors trying to rebuild your shitty joke of a country, held hostage in a basement.  You are cowards.  If they want to bring the religion thing into all the time, FINE!  My religion just kicked the shit out of your religion.

2.  Iran.  Enough said.  Keep being a radical extremist jackass and see what happens.  Iran as opposed to Iraq actually has the support of the UN and EU as far as the ass whippin he is steering his people towards.  Keep it up, I might just have to re-enlist so I can can come over and stick my size 14 Cochran Marauder up your ass.

Middle Eastern people in general.  You people demand the respect of the world yet you burn flags and kill people over a FUCKING CARTOON!!!  GET OVER IT!!  You elect a terrorist party to government in Palestine and then ask for aid?  Shut up.  You bomb your own civilians and murder innocent people in the name of your Holy War?  Idiots!  Stampedes, bombings, riots, endless protests over nothing, terrorist breeding and harboring, drug markets, etc etc etc YOU PEOPLE SUCK!  I couldn't imagine why ohh WHY anyone nation would want to go to war with you people.  Maybe because we're SICK OF YOU!

Many of the posts that I have read here prove to me that many of you really dont care as much as you pretend to. If you did, your research would go further than watching your nightly news broadcasts on your t.v.(senstionalized news).

I've noticed that many libs that scream the loudest about how were making the middle east worse, don't know anyone that is from the area or is currently over there. hmmm.........

Do ya'll realize that this all goes back Isaac and Ishmail.  Abraham thought Sarah was too old to have child so Sarah told him to sleep with her handmaiden.  He did and bore a child (Ishmail).  He then slept with Sarah and God allowed her to have Isaac.  The birthright was to be passed on to his son...but since Sarah was able to have a child, he passed them on to Isaac.  Ishmail got the short end of the stick as he should...he was a sand nagga.  The idiots over there don't even know why they're fighting...this goes back thousands of years because Ishmail was the bastard child of Abraham and got screwed because of it.  They fight because they ultimately all got screwed in their 3rd world countries...and the blessings of God passed on to the Israelites, which now reside in prodominately 1st World countries...Europe, USA, etc.  That is why they hate us.
