On an entirely theoretical level, suppose that you were presented with two items, which for simplicity's sake we will use as an example two GPS systems, both of which are entirely identical other than the colour. However, suppose that because of a certain day celebrating maternity, the pink GPS system cost $169.99 (or in whatever currency you use. I am unfortunately restricted by this keyboard to dollars), while the black one was slightly more expensive at $199.99. Would you be willing to spend the extra thirty dollars/euros/quid/other to ensure that you had the black type rather than the pink item?

I'd get the pink one, assuming I needed a GPS, simply because I could have a laugh with friends etc with it. It's not as if it is on public show either.
