For my movie i want something like this: A helicopter whose blades are starting to turn, and then causing dust to come off the title(board?) (making it readable). I already have a nice model of a heli, but i cant find good tutorials to: create dust and how to make the dust come off, like a wind blows it of.. Anyone have any experience with this?

edit: Using 3ds max 2008

Well..

..You could put a bunch of sand on a green screen, then put a camera directly over it, and blow the sand away using a blow dryer or something.
Then, using a video editing program, take the green screen out, and put it over the title.

..I think.

There's that After Effects program which could do it - but it's expensive

That's a 3D modeling/animation program, not a video editing program.

..Although you could use particles to stimulate sand in it, but I have no clue how to do that.
I stick to modeling.

After Effects can import and edit 3DS modles and also edits in 3D too, download it and a plugin called particular, neither are free so use your imagination, its a 3D environment particle generator, best you can get (it gets used in Hollywood movies so you can see it's worth using).
