[GTA:IV] PS3 or Xbox360?

I have always played the GTA series on the Playstation so I was thinking of getting it for the PS3.

But I recently bought the 360 (Elite) because of the price drop here and I'm not sure if there are any (important) differences in experiencing this game on another console. Other than different controls/controllers.

The only thing I can think of what could be an advantage for the 360 is the extra content.

Just curious what your thought are on this.

So if you are going to buy this game, on what console would you prefer playing it and for what reason?

Im never getting an xbox EVER. Im not going to buy something I KNOW has a 50% chance of breakdown in the first year. Eg. My Brother gets a Xbox 360 Elite... RROD in TWO DAYS. Fuck their shitty piece of crap hardware, with a shitty storage medium too, if games stay 7gigs max games will struggle to get any better in terms how much content they have.

The only difference between the two will be the controls and loading times. E.G the PS3 will be quicker. The PS3 version already has the extra content that 360 owners have to download.

You can't blame Vilham though, he had first hand experience with the 360, and was unsatisfied.

From a product standpoint, a 50% failure rate is cause for a massive redesign. This part of the reason I never went with the 360, I didn't want to have to send it to get it repaired. It's an inconvenience that should be avoided in the first place by properly testing the equipment before bringing it to market. They rushed it, and it shows. Sony took more time to get their system right and work out the details. I'm glad they realized the BluRay problem they were having, and fixed it before selling the system. Delays suck, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing in the end.

And to clarify, I'm not a fanboy, like I stated, I was seriously considering the 360, but I can't seriously buy something that I know has a coin-flip chance of breaking.

I know the 360 has horrible failure rates. However it doesn't mean it WILL break if you buy one. That Elite that was mentioned is in the minority. (and a very unfortunate case)

The failure rate isnt 50% anymore, I think I read somewhere that its 16% or so with the new models. Still far too high, but not so high that you have to worry about it. I've had mine since Christmas and have had no problems whatsoever. I deliberately waited until the new models came out, because there was no way in hell I was going to buy one of the old ones.

I just wish this kind of thing could be discussed without all the stupid statements. I was thinking more along the lines of Sam's comment..

As far as i'm concerned, the 360 is still the one with the best games. Hardware problems are something I have to take into account in order to play them. The PS3 is still far too expensive and still has nothing i'm very interested in on it.

Indeed. People get far too worked up over their favourite console. Like little kids.

What makes the hardware problems even worse is that this is Microsoft. They should have thrown a lot of money at the problem a long time ago to permanently fix it. But they didn't. And now they are losing a lot of customers because of it.

Hopefully it'll be something they'll keep in mind next time.
