At what speed do you give up on a large download? (1GB+)

DOES NOT HAVE TO BE AN ILLEGAL DOWNLOAD JUST BECAUSE IT'S BI! <-The fuck happened there? *Stares at wireless shitboard*

So, you find some cool, large thing you wanna download (Like a mod, a Linux distro, etc), but it goes painstakingly slow. At what speed do you give up on a large download and simply don't get what you wanted (No other sources available, etc)?

I usually give up if it's under 20kB/s for a long time and not showing any sign of improvement.

EDIT: WTF double post?! -1 replies? The fuck?! I can't access it to delete it, sorry, I think I broke BF2s...

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

If it's from a server I give up at around 50 kb/s.

If it's a torrent I don't give up at all.

If it's something I want, then it's something I want.

Simple, no?

Surely if you're willing to stop it because it's 'going too slowly', it ain't really something you want.

Yep.  That's pretty much it.

Single digits. If it's over like 60-70kb I consider myself lucky.

Kinda depends on maximum throughput. If I get any less than 800kBps on my home DSL connection with ~1MBps throughput, I start looking for other mirrors.

On my server, I start looking if the download will take longer than half an hour. My server's on a dedicated 1Gbps connection, so relation to maximum throughput doesn't really matter, as I could fill up my drives in around fifteen minutes at those speeds, were they attainable from anywhere on the Internet.

if it dips below 200kb/s I'll look for another source. If I can't find one I'll live with whatever I get
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
