I don't know, most of the tracks I like are from the 90's-Present, so I'll go for that. That was my time, I shall represent my time.

I wrote a big thing on how music isn't as good as it was say 50 years ago, ah here it is... Not entirely on topic but you get the point.

Just discussing this today, and listening to some of the classics (Sinatra, and other legends) I find that the current generation has a very poor taste and appreciation of music. This may be seen as totally radical, but current music is really controlled by advertisers and how much they are willing to pay to get their music into the public's ears. An example, if you turn on the radio today and listen to some modern rock, do you hear the guitar solos that you heard back when AC/DC and others were around? No. Also, how many times do you think songs are edited before they're released. The great artist (We'll use Sinatra again) recorded there songs what once, maybe twice, and that's what everyone heard on the radio and in the album. I guess what I'm saying is that great music isn't realized until many years later, after the artists are dead, or are no longer performing. So many great songs, go unheard because kids think that really great songs, classical, rock, whatever, are not cool because they aren't what everyone else is listening to, or what is the #1 hit for 3 weeks. So my final question is, was older music just flat out better? Or in 20 years, will we be listening to great music that just took that long for people to accept as masterpieces?

You forgot the 20s - emergence of Jazz.
Etta (sp) Fitzgerald and Nina Simone, very very good but a little later than this.
You can only have five choices. And I honestly didn't think anyone here would be interested in anything pre-50's.
