Why? As soon as someone sees that a folder is protected by passwords, they will instantly know what's inside.

the first one isnt really protecting access... its just a way of hiding it. the second option won't work if another administrator takes ownership and resets the permissions. using encryption software guarantees privacy. the file cannot be unlocked without the password, and if you make a password long and complex enough, it would take years to crack.
You also could make it ask for a password everytime the screensaver is running.PBAsydney wrote:
I only have one account on this PC, mine, it's just incase I leave my PC on, so I need it to ask for password everytime I access.
and what happens when you lose the USB stick?TheAussieReaper wrote:
Why not keep all that your important stuff on a usb. You can hide it anywhere and take it with you when you leave your room. USB's are pretty cheap and can hold a lot of stuff. And if you lose your pc in a crash, you keep the important information backed up on your usb.

Find another download button...RandomSchl wrote:

Yea, not really foolproof, but it would thwart most casual snoopers. Tried TrueCrypt and liked it. Thx for the tip.steelie34 wrote:
