[Doom 1] How to install on xp?

So, for some reason, I had the urge to play Doom Companion Edition today..

I found my disk, and tried to run the installer, but it says I don't have enough memory space... odd...
I also tried running this in compatibility mode for windows 95

I finally got the install screen working, but when I click install, it says searching for drives (or something like that) and it doesn't stop.
I tried booting in safe mode because this game is very old and has DOS commands... still doesn't work.

I also tried copying the CD to my computer to run the installer, but that doesn't work either...

Any ideas?

I got the origional dark forces to work with out that for my lil brother on Windows XP

Run it on the ZDaemon launcher and you can play with other people on IP.
