It is pretty fun, but you may be disappointed in the game graphics and mechanics in comparison to BF2.

It's great, but I'd just download a WWII mod for BF2 if I didn't own it already.
BF1942 engine is way better than BF2 engine. Except for graphics of course.David.P wrote:

You can get this from Amazon. It includes the expansions and Battlefield Vietnam to top it all off.David.P wrote:

Battlefield 1942 servers are friendlier and more varied. Battlefield 2 is mostly stuck in the Karkand/Jalalabad/Wake rut.cablecopulate wrote:
I don't think so, Tim.

Try and find the Battlefield Collection, you get BF1942, RtR, SWoWW2 and BF:V for $20.
Well $10 plus shipping, unless you get enough stuff with it to get free shipping.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

YESYESYES! Play the original and enjoy it for what it is for a couple of days. Then download the Forgotten Hope mod and be blown away by how incredibly awsome it is! I still choose to play FH for BF1942 over vanilla BF2. Really, BF1942 is an amazing game for how old it is. It was the first FPS to include both vehicles and infantry combat at the same time. And they did such a wonderful job with it. I still play...David.P wrote:
