We need help getting our server re-populated. Since we switched hosting providers we have not been able to get a good solid day of gamming going.

The FCW BF2:Special Forces Server Rules
We try not to have too many rules on the server, however the ones we do have are made to help the game play. One rule we have here that is unusual is that we have a waiting-in-line system for aircraft. (See below). Basically, we've got two types of rules. One is kickable offences, the other is bannable offences. Yet even the kickable offences can get you banned if you keep doing it.
If someone is breaking the rules, SPAM IN CAPITAL LETTERS THAT YOU NEED AN ADMIN!!!! DO NOT take justice into your own hands. Things start getting out of control. Understand that it sometimes takes a couple of times.
As mentioned below, if you have any problems, go onto our forums and speak your mind (politely, please).
Kickable Offences:
Don't worry! For the below items you get two warnings before you get kicked, two kicks before you get banned, and two bans before its permanent. In other words, if you get warned twice and then kicked for bombing the UCBs, yet you get back on and do it again, you'll get kicked again. Get back on and do it a third time and you'll get banned. (Of course, you can appeal it on the forum.). Now, if you get on and do it AFTER you got banned, then bye-bye. Warnings and Kicks are cumulative round to round. If you received two warnings for an offense and commit it the next round you will be kicked. Same goes for the kick to ban rule. NEW ROUNDS DO NOT MEAN YOUR SLATE IS WIPED CLEAN!
1. SQUAD UP. This means join a squad. You can lone-wolf all you want...just squad up.or you can be kicked.
1a. Locking your squad unless it's all clan members AND it's full. We won't bug you about it, but if we tell you to unlock your squad, DO IT!
2. DO NOT Command or Squad/lead without VOIP. (Voice over I/P). This is a teamwork server. Communication is a large part of it.
3. There is a line system for aircraft. Use it. (This DOES NOT APPLY to ground vehicles.). If you cut in line, you'll be kicked. Sometimes they call cutting in line jumping the queue. If you leave the hanger, the helipad or get killed by anyone, you lose your place line and have to join at the end.
4. No bombing/strafing runs/artillery/helicopters in UCBs (Uncap able Bases.). These are the flags with the red circles around them.
4a. No Armor in UCBs, either. Jeeps/Vodniks/foot soldiers are allowed (this included using the AT rocket to destroy airplanes, you CAN do it!)
.
4b. YOU CAN STEAL ARMOR AND AIRCRAFT. BUT.......
After stealing a vehicle and/or aircraft: As long as there is sincere forward motion at FULL SPEED to get out of the UCB, you can shoot at everything on the way out, HOWEVER you may slow down briefly (NOT STOP) only to acquire accurate aim to eliminate an immediate threat. That means NO PAUSING to get an extra kill.
*Special Note on UCBs!!!*
Once more, there are NO choppers, armor, bombing, or arty in UCBs.
But YOU CAN RAPE ON FOOT AND IN JEEPS!! And......
Regarding the AA gun on the Essex Carrier: You CAN attack the Essex Gun with Jet Guns and TVM's (T.V. Guided missiles from the chopper). BUT if you kill anyone other than who is in the Essex gun you can and WILL get kicked. Just make sure that you are prepared for that. This goes for any UCB AA. You CAN kill it, but if there is collateral damage be prepared to get kicked.
5. No repeated ramming of jets and choppers into other aircraft. That's obnoxious. (You can do it once or twice.Just do not make a habit of it.)
6. Commanding in vehicle. Of course, if you're in a vehicle to make sure the enemy won't acquire it, Sure. But offer to give it up if somebody is nearby. This doesn't apply to low-count games where the server has 8-12 people on each side.
7. Using the admin pre-fix if you're not an admin.
8. Abusive behavior against admins. Such as disrespect, you can cuss all you want during game play, just don't get too carried away to the point it disrupts game play. Please in general just be respectful and you'll be fine.
9. If you are screwing around an airfield and happen to TK or damage a teammate's vehicle and they complain, can and will result in a kick.
10. Disruptive Game play. This includes, screwing around causing ticket loss to your team, hindering your teammates from using/accessing vehicles and anything that is SOO disruptive, it makes a lot of players leave the server may result in a kick, but in extreme circumstances only. If you're not sure then don't do it.
Server side automatic kicks:
Understand that the server itself automatically kicks for the additional items:
1. Pings above 400.
2. Being idle over 10 minutes.
3. Having a negative 20 score (-20). This is to avoid some pr*ck running around TK'ing on purpose.
Bannable Offences:
Last we have the ban reasons; you went too far.so far that we don't even want to see you anymore. However this server is run by people and people can make mistakes. We accidentally ban people all the time. It's very tough to figure out what's going on. So if you get banned, we don't have anything against you. We just want to know WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED. So don't be angry at us if you think you are banned while you did nothing wrong...happens ALL THE TIME. Just post in this forum, and please mention your name, the date and time you were banned. Then we will do our best to find out what went wrong, and most of the time you will be un-banned as soon as possible. The fact that you took the effort to come to this forum, makes clear you are human, just as we are, that makes mistakes. No hard feelings, lets just solve the problem.
1. TK'ing for a vehicle. This includes flying the chopper to the edge of the playing field in order to kill the gunner. (Yeah, we know that one)
2. Standing in front of vehicles with the purpose of being team killed
3. Cheating and/or hacking
4. Stat padding
5. Using racial slurs.
6. Repeated warnings and kicks that are cumulative from round to round can and will result in a ban.
HOW TO BE A GREAT SQUAD LEADER!
A. Invite people to your squad!
People forget to do that!
B. Start Squads on purpose
You can even make a new squad solely to invite all lone wolfs and, when it's full, leave the squad and repeat the process. The players actually stay in the squad, and the commander now can give them a task. It doesn't take long to check every now and then to see if you have room for more people....FILL IT UP"
C. Always initiate VOIP.
And as far as the VOIP, its funny....most of these guys aren't used to talking, nor are they used to discussing plans. But they WANT to do this...they just don't want to be the first person "on the dance floor". I ALWAYS get on a silent squad I'm not familiar with, and say..."WHATSUP, GUYS!!" on VOIP and get them to talking. This includes noticing when a new guy joins the squad as well. I'll ALWAYS greet him. Sometimes they won't have a mike, but I'll talk to them anyway, warning them of enemies and complimenting them and such. And I'll joke around if the "mic-less" guy is on the squad for awhile and say "OK, guys...let's all chip in a buy Fred here a microphone! DO IT!
D. Start the process of proper squad leading!
Another thing I do is say... So...what's the plan, guys?! Usually they won't have one, so I'll say..."How about we go grab the cement factory". Then the rest of the time I keep suggesting plans and making minor comments and compliments. This is assuming the squad leader isn't leading. And just to make sure I don't offend the squad leader either, halfway through the round of giving orders to his squad, I'll apologize and say..."Awe jeez...I'm sorry.....I thought I was the squad leader....didn't mean to step on any toes!!". By the second round, I've got a full squad and everybody's talking. I look at us as the hosts.....I entertain when I can, and always try to make it a better experience. Give it a shot. It's interesting what a difference it makes!
E. Constant promotion
ALWAYS tell the guys to make this their favorite server and have them write the IP down!! Particularly if they're talking.
F. Being polite
DO NOT talk about a guy in your squad as if he can't hear you....HE CAN!! If a guy is not with the program or doesn't have a mic, don't start saying...."who is so and so.." Or "will someone kick so-and-so...he's not doing anything." That's rude!!!! Treat them with familiarity...as if they're one of your buddies. I'll say this when someone does the above..."Did yor' mama teach you manners?!" That's a sign of poor upbringing.....don't do it.
G. DO NOT KICK PEOPLE from your squad
Politely let them know what you're doing, make sure they're not offended, and start a new one if necessary. I know when I get kicked, I get offended...down right pissed!! If you've got a clan member you're trying to get on, ask the guy nicely and say "hey...I got a squad-mate I'd like to get on the squad...can I get a volunteer to make a space for him on this squad and just start another one squad?" 75% of the time they'll do it. If not, say "hey, We're going to form a new squad so we can fit another guy on this. When we do, you might want to invite some more people to this one.....". Get an acknowledgement from them. They can understand that. People just don't like to be singled out, kicked out, etc. You can get away with murder if you sugar-coat it. Because in theory, what you're telling some dude is..."Hey, we want to get rid of you because you're not our friend and our REAL friend needs your seat, so GET UP AND GET OUT!" That's called "back-of-the-bus", and people don't like it.
Treat these people like you would your Grandma.....how's that!
Do these rules sound too touchy-feely? They will sound that way if you don't understand what makes a great server. We set the tone...we make it what it is. Otherwise, it's just a $500.00 piece of machinery that everybody has in their bedroom.
----------------------------------------------------------
Also im not sure if this was mentioned ealier in the rules but our policy for w/k/b is "w/w/w/k/k/b" banning is the last step and hardly ever occures. We also warn more/less depending on the severity of the offense.
