A joystick for Flight Simulator X what do you use? What do you like about it? I'm looking to pick on up tonight and need suggestions.

I love my saitek cyborg evo. Great grip, and lots of adjustment possibilities. Haven't tried it in FSX though.

I use a Saitek Aviator for BF2.

I assume it would work fine for FSX too.

Find a stick & throttle with as many buttons as the manufacturer can possibly add. I'm happy with my Sidewinder FF2, but those are rare.

I'd always had sidewinders, always liked 'em. I've tried other sticks such as the 3d xtreme pro, they didn't feel right.  In reality, the stick does not lock in place standing straight up.

Logitech Attack 3. It sucks, but it gets the job done.

I have a logitech extreme 3d pro. it feels great in the hands and has a ton of buttons on it. moves very smoothly too.

edit: also the throttle lever is great to have.

I have that joystick minus the force feedback, I love it for flying in BF2 and mechwarrior. My dad has the FF2 and also loves it for those applications, and he got foot pedals for FFX and likes them also. 'Course he was going for his pilots license so I don't know how much you really need the pedals for the more casual player.

His spring is a little wonky now, but he's had the thing for I think 5+ years now? We got it bundled with Mechwarrior 4, so that should give you an idea of how old it is...

You should ask usmarine and see what he uses for FSX.

I want the Saitek X52 with the throttle.

I ended up going with the cheaper Saitek (Aviator). I was debating the other one but it just seemed a bit excessive in terms having a lot shit around my desk atm.

I went proper and got a CH Products Flight Yoke (no rudders, sadly) - it's pretty amazing even though there is no force feedback! Although for helicopters / certain jets a joystick does prevail (especially on certain airbus models where they actually use a joystick) - on that front I have the Saitek Cyborg 3D Force Rumble (force feedback!) and again couldn't be happier.

Happy flying, jsnipy!

That's the way to go.
Saitek also makes a nice looking Yoke. I've heard good reviews.

Before I got my set of rudders (Saitek) I used the gas/brake of an old steering wheel I had laying around. It did the job but, even then, it doesn't compare to a nice set of rudder peddles.

I too have one, its the bomb really.  Problem is the configuration, and not a lot of games recognize it off the bat.  Sometimes, if it werent for the config system, you'd be screwed.
