I just found out recently that Converse is owned by Nike. Hurley too.

So much for the alternative.

www.crockettandjones.co.uk

A presence in Northampton--the center of the English shoe trade--since 1879, Crockett & Jones recently took a big step into the U.S. market by opening a retail department at the Turnbull & Asser shop on East 57th Street in New York City. (They have had a store on London's Jermyn Street since the 1990s.) The tradition and quality remain the same, of course, including handcrafting the finest leathers through an eight-week manufacturing process involving more than 200 steps. The "Leeds" style from C&J's Hand Grade Collection is a five-eyelet Derby (Blucher) with a hand-stitched apron and a wallet-twisting price of $750 per pair. Available in black calf and tan antique calf, with an oak-bark sole

I guess I think like a 70 year old despite being in my late 20s.

I wore converse when I was 10 years old, and they tore up in a few weeks.  Nike sucks because they are too narrow for my wide foot no matter if I ask for the wide variety.  Reebok...well, it just sounds so early nineties in name.

I go for quality leather because everything else even those high dollar athletic shoes wear out fast.  I do own some New Balance for when I run; they are the only shoes I have worn that mold to your feet kinda like rainbows.  Leather does that too over time, but they work right away.

I go for longevity over how they look (granted they look good to me, but when you have to dress in a suit and tie for work...yeah converse not gonna fly).  It's the same thing for my car, I enjoy my 34 MPG despite being 15 years old with a replaced transmission.  I imagine for $750 the shoes should last a good century lol.

My brother wears them and isn't emo. Tbh, they're only "emo" if they're black and you're overall style is black. If I'm wearing white trousers with a pink shirt they wouldn't be emo at all.

Hey, converse's and a suit go well. Have you not seen Doctor Who? I'm not really a fan, but he looks bad-ass.

And yeah, I don't consider myself an emo, but I won't be buying any other shoes for a while that aren't converse.
