I have been trying between those two the past few days because i was recently playing those games on live alot ( me and a few mates got together and played mostly those two games). It is mainly between those two because i already have COD4 and fifa 08 and want another game to play on live , so im not really looking for a single player campaign games because they lose my interest within a short period of time. For other state the game and why you recommend it .

Wait for the new Rainbow six if you like shooting games. If not then wait for madden 09 (08 sucked). Or forza, graphics are remarkable.

halo ..is overated and shit ...call of duty is easily a better game ...and u already have it....after playing cod 4 and moving onto halo u will undoubtedly be dissapointed.

a typical match of halo includes....shoot, beat down, shoot, beatdown, shoot, beatdown...its poorrr..the maps are tedious and boring

You can wait for R6 Vegas 2 and/or buy Gears of War. Then wait for #2 (which is coming out in November )

I heard Gears was revolutionary, gory, and loaded with great gloomy graphics. Just using a saw blade on mutant/alien beings is enough for me to go out and buy a 360 and Gears.

I thought Halo was just another rehash IMO. If you've played the previous ones, and loved them, I guess it'd make sense to choose Halo.

Still, my vote is Gears. Or you can wait until Gears of War 2.

the thing about the 360 is that both of those games suck, yet they are the best it has to offer, and therefore are overhyped and end up selling to a bunch of lemmings.
