I could give a rat's ass about the 40k universe. What I do like about DoW and CoH, is that they are one of the few RTS' that actually focus on strategy, rather than spamfests. (Other real time strategy games that come to mind are SC and the Total War series.) It seems like most of the other real time strategy games out there are more about spamming more and having more units than the other person, rather than actually using any sort of strategy.Uzique wrote:

It's a very successful series - and no doubt for good reasons - but all of the above qualities that you refer to, seem to be only truly appreciated by a Warhammer fan / enthusiast. Alas, I do not fall into this category; as a game I couldn't quite get into the storyline and the character intensity as much as a real Warhammer player/gamer would be able to.
Just my personal opinion. Don't take this is an attack either, just talking out my opinion.
Also, that would be a great game to get if I didn't just get DoW: Platinum Edition and Audiosurf. I'll keep it in mind though.
Remember Me As A Time Of Day
How did you guys in the UK get this game? I cant find it on any UK sites.
Want! When will it be out in the UK?

Your kidding right? Spamfests are all to common in Company of Heros, either it be infantry swarms, or german tank swarms, people spam them like crazy, and win easily. Dow, ill agree, spamming didnt really work, once held off over 1000 Orc infantry with a whole mess of turrets and and slowly crushed me. Best game I ever played in DoW.heggs wrote:

ok. I played a game of this. The most epic full conversion would be to have the Freelancer factions and their ships - I know Cowami is with me on this.
Like Kusari vs Rheinland vs Liberty vs Bretonia and the "Pirates" are Outcasts/Corsairs, with the other random guys being Gas Mining Guild and Zoners...oh fuck that would be amazing, DO WANT.

On a side note, now that I am in ownership of the game, the Advent's Radiance Battleship and Halycon Carrier are the two best looking ships in the game. (Pity they're all commanded by women )

But yeh, I have like dreamed about a Freelancer conversion to this, lol.
I can get it for less than that ($37=£19).Aries_37 wrote:

this game looks absolutely awesome.
I dunno if I can bring myself to buy it though... I bought SupCom and played it once... good game, just never got into it.

Would be amazing, what would be better is either a remake or flat out sequel, simply one of the best games ever amde, shame it never was a huge hit. If the gameplay wasnt so slow for my tastes I would reinstall Freelancer...TimmmmaaaaH wrote:

You could probably blame your computer for that.djphetal wrote:

This game is win. The fleet battles are amazing.

naw... I ran it alright. totally playable. My computer's not great, but i think i ran it at default settings. It's very rare that I find a RTS that I like... but sins just seems so damn cool!nukchebi0 wrote:

One of the best I've ever played was a 4v4insane comp stomp. Imperial guard, chaos, space marine and tau (us) vs four eldar. The banshees and wraithlords didn't stop spamming, and at the end, after our various stands, we were all jammed in the tau's base for a grand 300-style finale of shooty banshee death. If the screenshots weren't buried in thousands, I'd link.r2zoo wrote:

I have to teach myself that 1 capital ship and 4 light frigates are NOT a sizable assault fleet.LaidBackNinja wrote:

Your forces are puny, grasshopper. I recently played an online match and me and my teamate got the short end of the straw on start-up, we kind of got cornered, with the 2 opponents taking the whole left side of the galaxy. They built up a massive fleet or two and about and hour in, they started to advance into my teammate's planets. I sent a decently sized fleet over to help him out, there was an epic battle, but his ships destroyed mine and that was pretty much the end of it. My gauss defense platforms (level 3) didn't help me much here.cowami wrote:

GREAT GAME, GET IT
It bogs down with 2000-4000+ units on the screen, even on my friend Q6600 and my 3.00Ghz E6750. I was thinking perhaps that had been annoying you in a smaller battle, because I know your computer is weaker than mine.djphetal wrote:

Earlier in this thread Dawn of War was brought up, and in its defense I listed animation among its excellent qualities. Those who doubt, take a look at some of the "finish him" variety:
OMG the game has a 3rd axis, the z axis. If you hold the D key you can position units and structures around in the 3rd axis
(you may need to map the d key in control options if this doesn't work for you)
Not sure if this has any gameplay consequences but imagine if you could be out of range of turrets because of z axis placement

Oh that's how SupCom is supposed to work...nukchebi0 wrote:
