Actually, it's a perfect analogy, and Miguel Diaz nor you has really given any credibility to why it is not an excellent analogy.lavadisk wrote:

Guess I shouldn't play CoD4 unless I join the Marines, right?
And I knew you'd like it Poseidon however I like a variety of bands with my rhythm games thanks.
that analogy is just an excuse.
How many times can you rehash the same thing?
You CAN play guitar anytime you want, you cant just go out one day and fly a plane or fight in combat (and usually doing that wouldn't be too fun due to the fact that dieing sometimes hurts.)Drakef wrote:

You could go out and get your pilot's license. Go fly planes. Or, instead of NHL or NFL titles, go outside and play some real sports. Or, if you don't want to join the military, why not paintball? Many games offer a virtual experience of a real life event, just like Guitar Hero. It's meant for entertaining purposes for everybody, in a different manner than other activities.lavadisk wrote:

However, most take time and money. I don't have the time to learn how to the play the guitar, or the budget to buy one with my current expenses. The entire idea of Guitar Hero is that it is a game, shockingly enough, as the concept has been applied to across the board in the gaming industry. It is not different from many games in that concept. It is a game that can be picked up and played immediately. The majority of players know it is a game, and don't believe that they are great because they can play it.
Thats the exact reason everybody who can actually manage to play an instrument for real gets pissed off when the kids get into arguments into who can play the automated game on their console.Drakef wrote:

I don't mind people who just play the game but the following it created makes a lot of people mad.
I don't see the issue in people arguing over the video game. Here's a better analogy: Why play CoD4 when you can go to the shooting range? Why bitch about virtual ballistics when you can experience real ones?lavadisk wrote:

ps: I'd say a fair amount of people have taken up the guitar because of GH

I'll wait for Guitar Hero: George Micheal. A bit less gay.
More pre-made songs for us Frets on Fire players, lol.
People that are like this need to grow the fuck up.
You're not alone there, this conformism bullshit is killing people like you and me that refuse to adopt fucking stupid ideals that some asshole set for modern culture. The girl that I like may dig the hell out of me but she is probably so deep in this bullshit that she doesn't want to be seen with me just because it would ruin some sort of image of her.lavadisk wrote:
