Super Mario RPG.
Were you looking for an MMO? A friend recently tried EVE online and liked it.
AD&D --- Baldur's Gate 2, or if you've played that... try Planescape: Torment. It's much less heard of, but arguably a better title... both from Black Isle.

Neverwinter Nights (the original) is quite fun... I haven't tried the second one yet.
I would also recommend some Point+Click adventure games. Anything from LucasArts from 1990-1999 is great. Full Throttle, Escape from Monkey Island and so on.

Grim Fandango is a great Puzzle/Adventure game.

So, I know i kinda stretched the definition of "RPG" but give any of those a try! you should like 'em!
Neverwinter Nights 1 was fun, I do miss it. But what about this EVE game? Is it a monthly fee/subscription game or what?

I'd recommend older titles that have already been posted by others.

Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale I & II, Planescape: Torment. Maybe Neverwinter Nights, though in my experience that wasn't quite as good as the other Bioware - Interplay/Black Isle D&D titles.

Icewind Dale is more compact and indoors/indungeon than Baldur's Gate. Planescape: Torment involves a lot more reading when playing. The Planescape setting can also make it a bit weird at first (it was for me at least - then again I never had any experience with D&D tabletop games at all).

Fallout 1 & 2 which offer a futuristic setting (along with the Baldur's Gates, Civilization games and Command & Conquer my favourite games of all time).

For that I think you'll have to move more into the adventure genre...
I don't see why an RPG game has to always have some sort of magic/wizard/sci-fi element.
Someone explain why RPG games are always fucking nerdy/fantasy/wizard games.

Man. The Games Industry needs to look at itself and wonder why there are few innovative titles out there.

I second that. I bought the first one years ago and really enjoyed it even though I hate 99% of all RPGs. I'm currently playing the second one for the Xbox and it's not as good as the first but still pretty amazing.

Another RPG that's really good that I finished recently is Vampire: Bloodlines. It's not well known and extremely buggy but there are fan made patches which tend to fix all that. Saying that though, I just used the 1.2 patch and I didn't find any game-braking bugs. It has a deep story though and from playing it, I can understand the complaint that Oblivion had only a skin deep story.

Is Fallout really that good? I mean I tried the original demo and didn;t really know what was going on, but I really enjoyed it.

Is Fallout + Fallout 2 + Fallout: tactics for £7.99 worth it?

GUILDWARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Free to play, all you have to do is buy the game and to get all 4 it's only like $180. Or, you could get a combo pack for less or even just 1 campaign for $50.

It never gets old and you don't have to pay a goddam monthly fee.
get it NOW!
