I for one will not be paying if there is a registration fee as that will be taking completely overboard.
No. I don't think that is what is being said at all. He was making a point that the site belongs to Jeff and he can pretty much do whatever he wants with it. You have paid no registration, and will not, and have no say (in reality) what he does with the site.

SUGGESTION!! What if members on the new site wanted to be able to access more features that they would have to have something like a paid subscription?
Assuming that I am on the same wavelength as chuy.

so is there going to be war between the sites since some will want to stay here and if chuy closes the site some will go somewhere else, maybe liquidator will open a temp forum to challange chuy's new site.Mitch wrote:

Because really, does Jeff expect us to all come skipping merrily into this new website?
I think opening the temp forums would be cool if Liq would do it.
I do not plan on opening the temp forums. Once you all see trackr, you'll want to be there.
Of course, an easier solution would be for chuy to transfer this forum database to trackr.

I sure hope these little badges won't be there.

You want me to pay and that is fine. However, will the same mod rules apply? I do not think I would pay if I can be banned.
For people worried about "reputations and respect", correct me if Im wrong, but starting off...arent the only only members to the site going to be us transferring over? Its not like we are going to be there and suddenly 40000 new members join within a week or so.
Just like BF2s, its going to take time to develop and grow. Everyone who transfers over will be there posting away (just like here) so you can grow your reputations and all the rest of it. Then, when all these new people join...they will see who is an existing member. Isnt that exactly like what has happened here?
Ok, its from scratch, but the point still stands. Unless everyone goes choosing new names and generally fucking up the entire process of course.
Yes, OH's post is more to do with the fact that everybody is asking the same question, over and over and over on every single page, and its getting old. But, I can understand that nobody wants to trawl through what is now 20+ pages to try and find that answer.RoosterCantrell wrote:

A lot of whats circulating is nothing more than rumours and items that people who arent even involved with Trackrs current development are writing about. And people are picking up on it as being true.
Maybe have the bf2s forum closed for registration, and not viewable by people not registered here before the switchliquidat0r wrote:

I'd be pissed if that happened but I know chuy wouldn't do it.............. would he?
edit: As for respect / recognition, people have that for me because of my posts. My reg date, karma etc are nothing more than amenities. Maybe we ARE just stretching this out of proportion but still... I speak for a lot of users when we say that we don't want to be "flushed out" by newfies.

If you change the forum default to 75 posts per page, it would only be at 7 pages like mine... I really don't have an opinion about this whole switching sites thing. I am assuming it is necessary to shed the moniker bf2s since there are more newer games about to be released.Snake wrote:

A lot of what has been over the past 20 pages (7 for me), has been nothing but rumours.
Please, believe nothing more than what has been said by OH, Chuy, and the other people who are involved in trackr.
Nothing at all has been mentioned about payment over at trackr. Reading through chuy's and OH's posts, I see no mention of payment- so I assume this is yet another rumour to add to the list generated by this topic.
Now for my personal opinion of ranks n stuff.
Everything should start again- like people have already said, we won't get an extra 40000 members in the first week- the initial registrants will mainly consist of the BF2s People- by the time other people gradually join the community, people will already have the "rank" or whatever you want to call it.
Should badges and stuff be given out, then it would be too much of a divide- it will be two separate communities trying to live in the same place- and that won't work. People who are so bothered about keeping their BF2s Status can join a fucking group if they really need to- but I don't see what the big deal over it all is.
And ATG; this ain't a arse licking post, this is my opinion of something that is very quickly getting far fetched.

I know what this thread is for Alex, and I'm not trying to suck up. I'm just trying to understand why a grown man with a wife and kids cares so much about a little number next to his name. I simply think people are too attached to arbitrary numbers and less to the relationships and friendship they have made here that will carry over to any site we move to.ATG wrote:

Perhaps you missed this. Karma smarma. It's the whole callous sounding feel to the way they are presenting it. Unlike some, and even me once upon a time, I have no aspirations for moderatorship. I wanted it because I felt like I had done just about everything else that could be done with the site. Now, I look back and at, some of the moderators here now, all of whom I consider e-pals and have a great respect for I and I see them restrained in what they post. They are supposed to be a certain way and hold to a certain decorum. I'd rather speak my mind, have my semi-coherent rants and call somebody a fuckhead if they deserve it, without thought to whether or not I am " acting " in the sites best interest or as a moderator should. It would have been fun to read other peoples karmas but that was granted to us all.
Nope. I'm an average user. And I'm going to advocate for the average user that's invested a lot of time here.
I post at other forums where I am not so " popular ", and view others on those sites who are " stars " as many view me here. I suspect some would feel somewhat slighted if after having invested so much time building a resume and reputation to have it negated to all new-comers in one fell swoop.

Meh. If trackr looks great, gets more memberships, and is easier to use, the faster implemented the better.

You're still missing my point, if you register there as ATG, and the rest of the community goes as hoped, everyone is still going to know who you are and what you've done. There are new users here everyday who don't know you or your reputation, how will that be any different there? I really still don't see the problem... On BF2s, the wiki was limited, and really only open to a select few for editing primarily because it took more technical skill to code the content.
The wiki on Trackr (called the "Library") is much more user friendly and employs standard HTML, pluse there are mechanisms to allow regular users to not only contribute, but to post comments about what has already been added.
Well, I new that it had to happen eventually but I will be sad to see it go. I'm sure that it will be as great as the original but I will surely miss the old faithful.
So will there be no more tracking of BF2 or is it just that it's expanding to include more games? I can see myself playing BF2 for another year or more, and is a great place, if nothing more than to locate other friends online and where they're at.
With my busy schedule (new kid and all) I don't have time to try to coordinate with someone. Just pop on and see if someone I know is playing and where they're at.
Or at least carry BF2 tracking until BF3 is released.... PLEASE!

BF2S is the community pool that has been awesome for so many years, everyone loves it, it has become a second home. But now, a really nice, bigger pool is opening just down the road. The lifeguards are moving to the new pool so no one can be in the current one, but they want everyone to pick up their toys and come along with them to the bigger, better pool with more toys in it. We don't want to leave anyone behind, or have people chain themselves to the old pool.
