OK, here is were I am stuck:
https://i28.tinypic.com/30vc8s7.jpg
There is a shield in front of me that I can't pass. Did I miss something earlier in the level. I blew up all 6 generators in a previous room - is there something else that I should have done. I've seen some videos on Youtube of this level and they simply don't have a shield in any of the videos.

How come there is an impassable shield blocking me from moving forward in this level?

That level was kinda confusing, heres what I did though, I turned on subtitles and restarted level. He pretty much tells you where to go, just gotta pay attention.

Yes a very confusing level indeed.  If you're at the part I think you're at then force fields in front of you open in a sequential order so basically you have to wait until they open and then you can proceed.  Again, this was such a confusing and disorienting level, I have no idea how I made it through.  You might want to try a walkthrough from IGN or Gamespot if you can't figure it out, I know I needed help.

Nope, that happened before this particular room.

This is a room that you enter closer to the level-end (I think?).

How you get into this annoying room:
There is a grate that you pass through, go down a tunnel/shaft and you're in the room before this one.
Then you go look at the shield barrier on the opposite side of the room.
You look at the alien machines therein and he says something like "it's an invasion force."
Then a hex-like door lights up on the other side of this room. You go over there and the "game saved" message pops up.
The hex-like door slides open, you move forward far enough and the door closes behind you while a similar door opens in front of you.
There are some aliens moving about behind it (the shield).

Problem though - F-ing(!) shield with no explanation of how to disable it; or where or what I needed to do previously, in the level, that might have disabled this F-ing(!) shield.

Look down, underneath you should be a passageway, i think its above you when you come in the level, continue through that. If this is the place i think it is, it should have a bunch of alien control panels around where you are.

Actually there is a shield-barrier in this room.

So, I simply reloaded the level and replayed it. This time there was no shield-barrier in this room. Go figure? O' well, I will never know why there was a barrier the first time. Maybe it was just a weird level glitch.

Add this to the end of your Crysis shortcut command line -devmode.

F1 toggles between 1st person and 3rd person.

If you have a scope attachment active on your current weapon and zoom - it will look like the screen shot. Killing the enemy in 3rd person is actually easy too. There is a fair of amount of inaccuracy coded into the weapons anyways - so just look at the smoke trails - tracers - and shot away at the enemy (adjusting your weapon direction based on the tracer shots).

Thanx!!!

But thank Nvidia: for the 780i + 3-way SLI and 3 8800 Ultras - overclocked by me.
Thanks to Intel: 3.00ghz Conroe - overclocked by me to 3.7ghz (I might upgrade to an E8400, if I can overclock it to 4.0ghz or more).
Thanks to JVC: for a 5ms 37" tight dot-pitch LCD HDTV (big but not to big).
Thanks to Natural Mod (available at Crymod): for improving the lighting in Crysis.

I get on average 45-62 FPS on ultra high DX10 settings at 1080p (1920 x 1080). The worst/laggey parts dip to 30-40 FPS.

AA of any kind reduces the FPS by 5 to 10 FPS. Because of the soft-smoothing pixel effects built into the HDTV, I just turn down the Detail-level to get the near same effect as if AA was enabled. It looks best to me with Nvidia/Crysis: AA OFF, HDTV: theater-mode, HDTV: Detail -30.

Maybe you should swap the 780i for a D5400XS ?

That can't do 3-way SLI. SLI and 3-way SLI is compatible with DirectX frame buffering. Quad-SLI is not compatible with DirectX frame buffering. Also there is no support in any game, yet, for 8-core code execution threading.

That board is a total waste, unless there is multi-core software support to use the available cores. And, I would have to dump using one of the 8800 utlras - and run it in standard SLI. As opposed to 3-way SLI (AFR3 spec).
