I think it does...

imo, talking face to face kind of sucks in the sense that its hard and awkward to get out of a bad convo...

its easier to find the words in your head, then type / text them rather than stumble for the words as so you dont make awkward pauses

if you say something wrong face to face, you cant take it back... with texting and shit theres always a backspace...

like If I dont want to talk to someone I just say later that, "Oh, yeah I left aim on" or "My phone was dead"   -  however face to face its hard to bullshit your way out of something

btw, im not anti-social, and I dont "Prefer" to do anything I just think its way easier to text/type

btw im not saying that we should all pick up a phone/keyboard instead of opening our mouths

what do you guys think?

Talking in person you are able to read people and adapt to them more easily.  You can also save a lot of time.  Talking via any text form is slow compared to speaking.

Nah. While I can talk about much more random things with my friends online, interaction with other humans around you just seems better.

Yourself.  I don't understand why you'd feel the need to BS your way out of a convo unless you aren't being yourself, which implies to me that you're insecure of your personality.  If you don't want to talk to someone, just say you were away from AIM or your phone.  Or just sign off of AIM and turn off your phone.  Also, you should never need a backspace button in life.  If you mess up, apologize and move on.  It's not as hard as it sounds.  I'm not trying to sound condescending but I really don't understand your viewpoint.

I feel that people prefer typing/texting then talking on the phone or face to face because it takes the personally out of the conversation. People are breaking up now over text and not having the balls to say it to their partner's face. I think it's outrageous, but I guess I'm "old-fashioned" like that. I prefer talking to people face to face because not only can you hear the different tones in their voice, you can also read facial expressions. And don't give me that can replace true human expressions.

As for saying the wrong thing and ending up in an awkward position, why not think before you speak? That way you can avoid those situations.

If you don't want to talk to someone, just tell them that you are busy.

Although texting/typing may give you more time to get what you want to say sounding remotely intelligent wheras in person it's more difficult, talking in person is so much more useful. You can read emotion, tone of voice, you can tell what type of person someone is and so on these are things you simply canot get just from talking to someone through text.
Actual personal interaction is one thing that is deeply in threat because of the increase in technology like the Internet and cellphone texting and other means where people can communicate without being anywhere near anyone else. You'll find though that in life being able to interact with people is incredibly important to being a successful person. Sure it's a bit more difficult than just typing what you want to say but you need to practice.

okay, how about this... on aim, anytime I get on... This girl just starts slamming me with ims..

I walk away for 3 minutes and already theres 30 lines of rambling, mainly about how she cant stick with a steady boyfriend, and how her mom pisses her off, and a torrent of other bullshit. Like this girl has sereious attention issues, and sometimes I just dont want to talk to her - but I dont wanna be a dick and hurt her feelings...

Just saying I wasnt there is easier, imo...

and for everyone telling me to go outside (i lol'd btw) and that verbal interaction with humans is vital. Im not saying it isnt!

ffs! I talk a lot, im one of the most talkative people I know. Im simply stating that texting/ typing is easier and wondering who agrees with me

You need to unplug my friend.  Talking face-to-face is critical in building social skills that you'll need in relationships, employment, and everyday life in general.

People learn how to talk before they learn how to read/write.

Therefore talking must be easier.

Talking > texting, mainly because I'm too lazy to type everything out.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Talking face to face is the basis of social skills, you can`t say anything online that is in any kind of context. If everybody talked like they would online, it would be like talking to monotone zombies.

scottsdale arizona.... yep i was there this summer, very hot, and dry, but nice people there

heres my 2 cents about this. yeah texting provides convienience in a fast paced society where everything is on the go. especially when technology is growing at an exponential rate. next thing you know it will be holograms from startrek.

but i believe in speaking face to face, yeah its more of a hassle for two people to break their schedule and go out their way to have a conversation. but then again thats why relationships of any kind suck

communication is about words and then more, facial expression, attitude , and so on. body language rather than jargon illustrates a person's intensions. you can fool someone with words via texting, but not body language or attitude.  and in a professional interview, that counts quite a bit.

The same reasons why you like talking via email's and stuff is why I despise it right now. Theres this girl I've been trying to get to know out of school but whenever I try and talk to her about anything other than school she just fucking ignores it. pisses me off.

Talking face to face is better is some situations, like when having a serious conv or something.
I don't mind either way tho, although it does seem easier to talk so someone you don't know well on msn etc..

In my opinion talking can be ok if you're in the right mood (drunk light) or with the right person (a hot babe)
