worst in game? i mean is this the best bomber china has to offer? if it is, i won't be worried if they attack. can anyone fly this piece?

I hate this thing too. I can't do anything in it except die. As I said in a previous post about the Fantan: it turns like a shopping cart, either too much or not enough.

dude, i've analyzed shopping carts. those big heavy ones (like at Costco) are great if you want to go a long distance with minimal effort and have a high top speed. however, you'll have a really hard time turning it.
now those high short ones (like at ShopRite) are great for zooming up and down the aisles. great acceleration and turning, but a low top speed, and you gotta keep kicking if you want them to keep going.
wow, that really didnt relate to AF.

Honestly, it's an orange bucket of bolts! I mean, is it rusty or something?
A10 owns all bombers!
A10 owns all bombers!
SU-39 owns all bombers in my opinions....for bombing, it's more nimble and precise, with the A10 the bombs are placed too far apart, like, the wingspan so i miss alot, but for dog fighting you can't beat the A10's MG's, the only time I'd use the fantan is on midnight and I'd rather use the heli.
Well, jets are the only vehicles in which I suck...anyways, I used Q-5 as a dive bomber...you know, like Ju-87 Stuka. Worked fine for me, 4 bombs are enough to cover flag or 2-3 vehicle armour convoy. And the gun is cool, takes out enemy helos and light vehicles pretty easy. Just get to the altitude about 400-500 and then dive...after loosing your bombs climb and get back to airfield to rearm. Do it n times.

yeah, dive bombing all the way, but the way the bombs release is so lame. they don't go together, rather one, two, one, two, so when i am pulling out of my dive, the last bomb just kind of trails off somewhere...Longbow wrote:

I have seen some very good people in it, but its way of dropping bombs in a staggered way really annoys me. Its a different way of bombing. Although I did totally rock with it the other day, good rounds with it are far and few. IMO, it is hampered more by the only map it features in from the amount of AA that can cover the entire width of the map.steelie34 wrote:

Dive bombing is the only way to do it, and it feels weird when pulling up, i.e. its quite unresponsive. Whereas with the A10 (and sometimes SU39) you can get away with a more shallow dive where the bombs plunge forwards, you cant do that with the Q5 due to its staggered bomb dropping.
However, I have found that it is simply brilliant for climinb up high. I often go on a bombing run, and if that AA locks onto me, I get down into the gorge, under the bridge and then turn and fly vertically upwards....I have found it to be better, and quicker, than any other jet at going vertically upwards than any other. With AA having a vertical range of about 350m, you can be up to 400-450 in a matter of seconds. Ive found this to be a HUGE advantage, especially in losing an A10 off of my tail.
Ive only had about 3-4hours (tops) of playtime in it....but its on par with the Eurofighter as being the weirdest and most demanding game-play change requirements of any of the jets.
And, for the RL bit...you have to remember that the jet itself is dated from back around the 50's or 60's (cant remember which now).

I think 60-70's. It looks a lot like chinese lisenced copy of SU-15 - J-8II (afaik). So around late 60's, early 70's.Snake wrote:

edit: I was a little bit wrong, Q-5 is close cousin of chinese lisenced copy of MiG-19 - J-6

Whenever I try to bomb with it, it seems I'm dropping candy or rubber bombs. Either way I just cannot cause the same amount of destruction I can like with a Warthog or Frogfoot. And as Snake said earlier, the map does not lend it self that well for bombers like Operation Road Rage. On the latter you can bomb and get out of AA's range by flying really low over the water on both sides. Midnight Sun is shaped like a canyon so you are forced to stay within the middle of the mounains.
I'm just starting to find the love for the Q-5, took a while to get used the belly flop it does when pulling out a dive, but as an 80 degree or greater dive bomber and chopper/neutral flag gunner it's great.
Not QUITE the A-10, best I can get is 35-0 on a busy server, but still a good learning curve. It is a very high altitude plane, still handling nice over 600.

It bombs very accurate from my experience, but there is an annoying delay after dropping the first 2 bombs before you can drop the last 2. It pulls up weak so you are usually limited to dropping only two bombs when diving unless you are really high and your target is stationary.
I like the gun on it. A lot easier to aim with it and destroy mobile AA. I actually like the Fantan because while it is hard to use it can be effective if you know what you are doing. Although I'll admit it has a hard time matching the A-10.

Just hit a 29/2 in the Q5 on MS on a looooong round. Only got killed by AA. And Chulster joined...and lagged out
Took a while to get used to the staggered bombs after owning like shit in the Su39 (love that thing) but once you get used to it its pretty good. But taking out tanks in 4 bombs is not as much of a guarantee without loads of practise unlike the A10/Su39.
But for pulling away from AA, and even the A10 on your tail, the Q5 is in a class of its own. Just wish I could find the instant-get-in-by-holding-E spot. Have never once managed to do it

the delay when bombing kills it,because it either forces you to drop two or die trying to drop all of them.if you're bombing mobile AA you better be pretty damn accurate, because you aren't running away from it if it survives.i find the gun on the SU-39 to be much better for destroying,well...everything.it's a shame it has trouble leveling out in flight.

Yeah I got in for some Q5 jollies, was especially pleased when who are my team mates? none other than a load of you lot Was not chuffed at getting kicked for bloody ping though, on a German server, and I'm in EU also
Tried to get back in reading a 82 ping, and CTD
BTW, to get all 4 on target withour risk of bottoming out, fly up to at least 500 and go straight down, like a severe angle, the Q-5 has awesome roll so as you get first target view you can alter accordingly, then release way too early while keeping a very straight flight path. I can kill AA, if the bugger stays relatively still or drives straight, most times.
Only kill i got before ping kick was carpet bombing a car, cheap but cheerful
I thought those planes were for close air support for troops not so much as bombers. Thats why the A10 use commercial jet engines to move around and a titanium bath tub for pilot protection.
Yeah, they are. But since BF2 didn't make the GAU-8 on the A-10 anywhere near as good against armor as it should have, bombing is the way to go.Brizzzer wrote:

Aye, thats exactly what I was doing, but usually at 400-450. Because of the very long dive you can release all 4 bombs (despite the delay in dropping the 2nd pair) and pull up way before. Only problem is if they start to move away...bombs are gona miss.Chullster wrote:

Ive got into a very bad habit lately of going to ~200 and doing very acute bombing runs so Im often overshooting the bombs. But yesterday in the Su39 and Q5 I managed to never do it. Accuracy was a lot better, but I sacrified the ability to bomb at the last minute to account for them moving away. Just gota get back into the habit
Cool plane IMO even though it turns slow. A bit of a challenge. However I must say that with the map its on it isn't balancedd well. A plane which requires such a change in style of play and to be honest is a step up in terms of difficulty of use should have some benefit to counter it's weaknesses. For example the sf Hind is no where near as nimble as the bow and it's rockets are wider set, however it has full-auto rockets and stronger engines. It also seems easier to dodge aa when going crabways. I don't think the bow can circle the same or climb as fast either.
