Anyone know why my router has screwed with my broadband?  I think its to do with the port allocation.
I get no issues gaming, or on SOME websites or generally downloading... but when i try to use torrents, my DL rate is absolutely screwed.  Where in the past i might have got dl rate of about 150kbs, im now getting 20ish..

My router is grand, its UPnP, but when i use azureus, im told there are known issues with routers and some upnp hardware regarding port allocation etc.. ive read up, followed the suggestions on other forums, nothing seems to be helping.

anyone techy enough to offer assistance?
pm me or post reply dudes.

uhhh....this is an azureus thing. not bf2

azureus has its own help and guide section. even one on wiki. there you can find all your info

Hi. I had the same problem. I have a netgear ROuter. ALl i did was
1) Install UpnP user interface
2) Opened the ports to accecpt incoming packets and allow outgoing packets.

Hope that helps.
Sorry forgot to mention UpnP is installed from Windows - Add/Remove and then windows components.

3rd EDIT lol. I FORGOT to mention, when using azurus or any BT client (I use MIRC -much faster 250-280KB a sec) download speeds depends on peers and seeds, the more you have the faster your DL will be - Also set yuor UL to 0KB (No limit on how much you upload) this works in your favour

aye, ive read up on azureus help, and i been using p2p/torrent for years.. my prob aint an issue of set up re those progs..  all ports are already open, and i have been doing test DLs to try to understand the problem.  it doesnt matter what i dl, whether its a 1 peer/seed source, or one that has 10,000 others dl'ing.. same resulting rate.  even if i leave the pc running overnight, thereby giving seeds/peers a time to start, i still get crappy rates.

im not saying im a pc genius, but equally, im not a technoob.. this has me stumped.

ponch, this is a community forum.  dont be so anal dude.

Well I spoke to my mate who works for an ISP and said they have cisco servers mouted at the ISP. This filters p2p clients/networks.... I have not researched on it yet. BUT my mate is going to send me a link soon, maybe this is your problem. If so I suggest a change of ISP. I'll keep you posted.
