well it isnt Source but its Half Life 1....:

March 3 - Another typically hellish day at base camp. I'll be glad when this is over and I can finally can get assigned a mission. There has been this really weird civvie spotted at the base. Rumor is he's from some government branch looking to recruit; others say he's with some secret research group. I would jump at the chance to join. It would be cool just for the change and the adventure."

March 7 - I finally saw the government guy today. I am not sure he is a g-man, but he was wearing a really uptight suit and carrying a briefcase. He looked more like a lawyer or insurance agent to me. I did notice him checking me out. Several times throughout the day I spotted him just watching me during training. I wonder what he's up to..."

its the marine from Opposing Force, Adrain Shepard. It is just sone of his diary entries.
i was confused when i read this

I read that a while ago. So? It's just shepard talking about G-man. No super special clues to his identity though.

Well it says he is definitely government, or is ACTING like a government man, a G-Man. But people knew that already right?

This one is far more interesting:

"As Shephard witnesses Gordon Freeman's transportation to Xen, the player has the option to follow him through the teleporter before it collapses. However, if this happens, Shephard will find himself teleported to a location in Xen several meters away from Gordon and then fall through space. Doing so will produce the message: "Evaluation terminated: Subject attempted to create a temporal paradox."

"A temporal paradox is a paradoxical situation in which a time traveler causes, through actions in the past, the exclusion of the possibility of the time travel that allowed those actions to be taken."

..as shephard isn't going to the past, that would mean that going through the teleporter would stop certain events in the future from happening, which would in turn (through time travel, which is possible in HL2) prevent critical events in the past from happening, which could be anything.

Which would all mean that people in the future fucked about in the past which is HL1/HL2 and thus caused or influenced the whole situation.

When it gets to the point where you're defining "temporal paradox", don't you think it's being looked into a little too much?

So you made a discovery about a nearly decade old game that everyone else knew about and then someone wrote about on wikipedia? Sherlock has nothing on you, sir.
