The 7800GT is defineately the sweet spot right now. It's the best card for BF2 when you want something good but not too expensive. Right now you can get a free AMD PCI-E motherboard when you buy the EVGA 256-P2-N518-AX 7800GT, and you can get that deal from newegg.com, EVGA.com, and some others.

Hmm, why EVGA instead of XFX?  Pre-OC-cards are no fun.

If u compare the 6800 Ultra and 7800 theres not ALL that much diffrence. u could overclock the 6800 and get the same performance. and the 7800 is like $400 more, lol.

Yea ok.

I am running 2 7800's.  Pick up one and get the other when you can.

I just built that setup for someone and he was not disapointed at all.

Only 6800's are trash, you should take 6800GS or GT in SLI. VERY GOOD.
But the 7800GT has 20 pixel piplines and supports Cine FX shader model 4.0.
Later you could buy a second 7800GT.

Go for a 7800 GT, or wait for a sale and try to get the best bang for your buck

as far as the video card debate/flame war, I will put my ATIX850XT up against anything else on the market

eVGA are very good, great service and support and a great card. I also like BFG.

boys boys settle. ATI and Nvidia make what one would call ''specialist cards". Depending on what you use the cards for depends on what you use them for, (and what the game is optimised for).
For example ATI cards are geared more towards web-design and maybe CAD, whereas Nvidia is more for games. (Well that was 9 months ago, so the cards might have changed between then and now.) I read that a tester ran Lego Star Wars with an Nvidia 5900 and a Radeon 5950, and found out that while both cards ran the game, the Nvidia made the lightsaber "blur" when it was swung. The Radeon didnt have that nice lil effect. Of course it might only happen to that particular game. Whats to say the newer Radeons also have that effect?? For me the choice between ATI and Nvidia is more personal. For me its Nvidia simply due to the fact that Nvidia drivers are more reliable and easier to install.

I just got the X850XT, but haven't installed it yet. I am curious, how is it? Do you have to unlock any pipes in it?
